Current Government Polices and its Economic Impact

Economics Association conducted a Debate Competition on the topic ‘Current Government Polices and its Economic Impact’ on 24th August, 2017.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

As a part of social commitment, Economics Association donated steel bin to Panvel Railway Station 18th August, 2017. Students also did Rally from the college till railway station to create awareness for cleanliness under Government’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.

Social Activity on Hygiene Campaign in Government School

On 31st July 2017, the Economics Association organised a Hygiene Campaign in Panvel Mahanagar Palika Girls School in which the students of Economics Association visited the school. The aim of the campaign was to reduce rate of sickness among children through the simple but effective act of hand-washing. For this Economics Association installed Hand-Wash Dispensers in the School and also donated liquid soap packets. Our association students also made the children aware about the benefits of cleanliness and maintaining hygiene by washing hands.

Economics Association organized Prize Distribution 2016-2017 on 15th March, 2017. The students who participated in various events, prize winners and students who contributed to the association by their dedicated work in the academic year were felicitated with trophies, certificates and cash prizes.

Industrial Visit: A group of 100 students of F.Y., S.Y., T.Y.B.Com. with Dr. Aarti Sukheja and Dr. Rinkoo Shantnu visited Maganlal Chikki Factory at Lonavala on 9th December, 2016.

The visit acquainted the students with the production and marketing process of preparing chikki and other items of the said factory.

Brief demonstration of different processes was given such as ways / sources of procuring raw materials required for making chikki, crushing of groundnuts and other raw materials, mixing all the elements, preparing glucose which is required for one of the processes, layering the chikki and cutting them in different desired / required shapes, then wrapping it in plastic and packing them into boxes ,storing and distributing them. It was an informative and enjoyable visit.

Debate Competition: Economics Association conducted a Debate Competition on 16th December, 2016.

The theme of the event was 'Demonetization'. 26 students participated in the said competition. The event was judged by Dr. Rinkoo Shantnu and Dr. Aarti Sukheja. The students were well prepared for the purpose and charmed the audience with their performance.

All the participants were given 2 minutes to present their respective points following which students participated in an open debate challenge where the participants brainstormed on the said theme. The prize winners were applauded for their performance.

The 'I Lead India' initiative of The Times Of India with the Navi Mumbai Youth Brigade organized a Clean up Drive

ileadindiaThe 'I Lead India' initiative of The Times of India with the Navi Mumbai Youth Brigade organized a Clean up Drive at the Vashi mini sea shore on 22nd September, 2013. Students from more than 10 colleges participated in this event. The Waste Disposal Drive which was organized by the Economics Association inspired many students to volunteer for this event. Their efforts to clean up the area were well appreciated by members of the Aam Aadmi Party and the Mayor Mr. Sagar Nayak.

Essay Writing Competition 
An Essay writing competition was held by the Economics Association on 20th September, 2013. On the topic 'Rupee in Free Fall'.

  • A Photography Competition on 14th December, 2013. Theme of the Competition: Impact of poverty on landless people.
  • Presentations on current economic issues was organized for F.Y.B.Com. students to create interest in the subject of economics and to enhance their confidence and presentation skills on 18, 19, 20 December, 2012.
  • Economics Song Competition: Students were asked to prepare songs on any current economic issue and in any language and sing it out loud to the audience on 15th February, 2014. Results awaited.
  • Cartoon Competition: Platform for students to express their concerns over the Current Political Scenario in the country.

Organized an Expert Lecture on the topic ‘Financial Planning for Young Investors’, on 19th June, 2012 by Prof. Shashank Dublish, Rajkumar Goyal Institute of Technology, Ghaziabad.
Initiative ‘SMILE’ on 3rd September, 2012 at Jeevan Jyothi Charitable Trust, Panvel. SMILE is an initiative to bring happiness in the life of children who are deprived of it. A Donation Drive was carried out in the college. Students donated books, toys, stationery and other things which were donated to Jeevan Jyothi Charitable Trust.
Organized an event ‘Budding Economist’ on 14th September, 2012 in which students presented the works and contributions of their favourite economists.
Organized an event ‘Economic Panorama’ in which students were motivated to delve into their country of choice and present their views on where they visualize it in 2020 in the form of a power point presentation on 21st September, 2012. Participants chose the following countries for discussion: USA, UK, India, China, Brazil, Italy, Sudan, Congo, Somalia, Belarus.

An Essay Competition on current issues and presentations on current topics from 18th to 20th December, 2012 invigorated the minds of our budding economists.
