National Seminar on "Financial Awareness of GST and Telecom Industry"
Department of B.Com. Accounting & Finance organized One Day National Seminar on “Financial Awareness of GST and Telecom Industry” in association with Consumer Guidance Society of India (CGSI) on 24th January 2020, Friday for Third Year B.Com. Accounting & Finance. Seminar was started with inauguration ceremony. Dr. Abida Khan, Coordinator - B.Com. Accounting & Finance felicitated guest Mr. Thirthraj Pandey Project Officer CGSI, resource person Mr. K. V. Nanda Kumar Menon and Mr. Dinesh Bhandari. Dr. Kavita Kathare introduced guest Mr. Thirthraj Pandey, Project Officer Consumer Guidance Society of India and resource person Mr. K.V. Nanda Kumar Menon, Retired as Senior Vice President from UTI Mutual Fund from Kerala and Mr. Dinesh Bhandari, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. The seminar was organized in two sessions.

11.30 a.m. to 12.30 a.m. – Session on Financial Awareness on GST
Menon sir guided students on Financial Literacy and Awareness on GST. Dinesh Bhandari sir guided students on Mobile Applications, Performance level of Service Providers and shared different experiences of consumers with students. Seminar was concluded with vote of thanks session.
National Seminar on "Consumer Awareness and Financial Literacy"
Department of B.Com. Accounting and Finance organized One Day National Seminar on “Consumer Awareness and Financial Literacy” in association with Consumer Guidance Society of India (CGSI) on 22nd June 2019, Saturday for second and third year B.Com. Accounting and Finance and B.M.S. students. Seminar was started with inauguration ceremony. Dr. Gajanan Wader, Principal and Mrs, Deepika Sharma, Vice Principal felicitated guest Mr. Thirthraj Pandey and resource person Mr. Ganesh Bhatt. Dr. Kavita Kathare introduced guest Mr. Thirthraj Pandey, Project Officer, Consumer Guidance Society of India and resource person Mr. Ganesh Bhatt, Master Trainer, R & G Institute of Professional Trainings Pvt. Ltd. from Dehardun, Uttarakhand. The seminar was organized in three sessions.

Pandey sir guided students on consumer awareness with practical examples of cases of frauds with customers and awareness video. Bhatt sir guided on Finance, investment awareness, setting of financial goals and steps to be taken to achieve them. Seminar was concluded with vote of thanks session.
The Finanza Association conducted social activity on 21st February, 2019. The member students of Finanza Association contributed Washroom Cleaning products to P.M.P. Municipal School, New Panvel. The objective of the activity was to spread the awareness about personal hygiene and cleanliness. Prof. Sharavathi C. and Prof. Poonam Gupta accompanied students. Around 15 students accompanied by two faculty member visited the school. All the Teachers, students and Principal of the school were very co-operative. And they appreciated the efforts taken by teacher and students for the noble cause.
Career Guidance Seminar 2018-19
Department of B.Com. Accounting and Finance organized Career Guidance Seminar in association with Higher Education Forum (HEF) on 12th October, 2018 for T.Y.B.Com. Accounting and Finance students. Dr. Abida Khan welcomed Dr. A. K. Sen Gupta, Founder and Convener, Higher Education Forum (HEF). Dr. A. K. Sen Gupta sir enlightened students on four principles such as Determine Strengths and Weaknesses, Set objective for Greater Results, Discards confusion and Get to know the availabilities which help the students feel more responsible and acts as an effective part of the decision-making process. The discussion was continued by Prof. Harish Aiyer and Ms. Aparna Ramchandra, members of Higher Education Forum. They guided students on various concepts of management which can be practically applied while selecting the career. The seminar was attended by 100 students of T.Y.B.Com. Accounting & Finance and concluded with answering of queries raised by students.
National Conference in association with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India
The Department of B.Com. and B.Com. (Accounting and Finance) of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science had organised One Day National Conference in association with The Institute of Company Secretaries of India on 28th July, 2018. The theme of the conference was New Dimensions in Commerce Management and Technology. The aim of the conference was to provide a platform to disseminate business intelligence. It had teaching academicians and researchers sharing their valuable experiences, ideas, innovations and research on the changing dynamic issues and the topics related to Commerce, Management and Technology.
C.S. Avaneesh Srivastava, Chairman of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Navi Mumbai Chapter and C.S. Alok Mishra of Mahanagar Gas were the Guest of the event. There were three technical sessions. First session was on ‘Company Secretary as a Career Option’, second session was based on research paper presentations and third session was on ‘Soft Skills’.
C.S. Surendra Kansthiya guided the students on the theme of ‘Company Secretary as a Career Option’. Dr. Kaustubh Sontakke was the resource person of the second session. He shared his views on various research aspects. Dr. Naveen Punjabi was the resource person of third session. There were 217 participants for the event. Teaching faculty from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Raigad attended the conference. The conference was arranged by Dr. Kiran Deshmukh, Coordinator of the Department of B.Com., Dr. Abida Khan, Coordinator of B.Com. Accounting and Finance and Ms. Lachhmi Bhatt, Assistant Director of ICSI, Navi Mumbai Chapter.
Career Guidance Seminar 2017-18
Department of B.Com. Accounting and Finance organized Career Guidance Seminar in association with Higher Education Forum (HEF) on 28th February 2018, Wednesday for T.Y.B.Com. Accounting and Finance students. Higher Education Forum (HEF) is the largest on-line community of higher education professionals in India. Launched about 9 years ago, it has a membership of more than 3,500. HEF is involved in a number of capacity building activities in the space of higher education among all stakeholders including faculty and students. One of the important activities conducted on a regular basis by HEF is the career guidance seminar for graduate / post-graduate students. Dr. A. K. Sen Gupta, Founder and Convener, Higher Education Forum (HEF) was the chief guest on this occasion.
Sir guided students on various topics including higher education, corporate jobs, skills needed, attitude sought for, courses available in foreign universities after graduation, among others. The discussion was continued by expert speakers Prof. V. Ramachandran and Dr. Vandana Mahajani, members of Higher Education Forum. They guided students on various career opportunities available in commerce, business and industry. The seminar was attended by 75 students of T.Y.B.Com. Accounting & Finance and concluded with answering of queries raised by students.
Department of B.Com. Accounting & Finance organized Alumni Meet on 19th August, 2017. 145 Alumni from different batches of 2009 to 2016 attended and made it successful with their presence. Department teachers and students planned various entertainment events such as group dance, singing, games and interaction sessions for alumni.
Swachcha Bharat Abhiyan

Certificate Course on “SAP FICO”
Department of B.Com. Accounting & Finance organized Certificate Course on “SAP FICO” in association with Technoria e-Technologies Private Limited from 14th July, 2017 to 16th August, 2017. Twenty eight students including B.Com. & B.Com. Accounting & Finance registered for the course and successfully completed the same. Mock interview were conducted and certificates were awarded to students at the end of the course.
Visit to Vanwasi Kalyan Ashram in Chinchavali Village, Panvel
Department teachers and S.Y B.Com. Accounting & Finance students visited Vanwasi Kalyan Ashram in Chinchavali Village, Panvel on 11th July, 2017 and facilitated with grocery items like rice and edible oil. It is the social institution taking care of 30 orphanage children (from 5 years to 15 years old) under the guidance of the ashram in-charge Mr. Deepak.

Advanced Tally ERP 9
Certificate course on "Advanced Tally ERP 9" for the Commerce students in coordination with Shahu Institute of Information Technology, New Panvel (Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited) is scheduled to be held from 22nd November, 2016 for 2 months.
Guest Lecture on Financial Management and Financial Accounting V
During the first term for third year students, Guest Lecture was conducted in the subject of Financial Management and Financial Accounting V on 22nd October, 2016. The expert was Prof. Naikar Dhanabalu Raju.
Students' Association 'Finanza'
On 28th September 2016, Department of B.Com. Accounting and Finance inaugurated Students’ oriented Association 'Finanza' – Exploring beyond the Balance Sheet. Mr. Akshay Parmar, Alumni of 2007 batch of BAF was the Chief Guest for the inauguration. He is the youngest Vice President of Rotary International. Finanza is a purely student oriented association, it would help the students to enthusiastically interact and share their ideas and eventually prove their talents though specific Events.
Parent Teacher Meeting
The department has organized a Parent Teacher Meeting on 23rd July 2016 for S.Y.A/F, 30th July 2016 for T.Y.A/F and 1st October 2016 for F.Y.A/F. The main purpose of the meet was to create a common platform, where teacher and parents come together to enrich the student’s educational experiences and discuss variety of issues, regarding all round development of students.

Mrs. Abida Khan attended One Day Workshop on ‘Revised Syllabus and Question Paper Pattern of The Course T.Y.B.M.M Semester V (Journalism and Advertisement) on 2nd July, 2016 organized by Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science.
Guest lectures and Guidance lectures are regularly conducted to boost confidence of students and motivate them towards the examination at college and university level.
During the first term for third year students, guidance lectures were conducted in the subject of financial Management, Cost Accounting, and Financial Accounting V on 30th September, 2015. The experts were Prof. Dhanabalu Naikar Raju and Prof. Chandrashekar Ashok Sawant from SIES College, Sion.
Department organized One Day Workshop on "Preparation of Subjects and Question Papers of T.Y.B.Com. Accounting and Finance VI Semester" where 195 students participated from various colleges from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Uran area. Experts were experienced faculty from well known colleges.

The department has organized a Parent-Teacher Meeting on 21st September, 2015 for the first term and 16th January, 2016 for the second term for all the F.Y., S.Y. and T.Y. B.Com. A/F. The main purpose of the meet was to create a common platform, where teacher and parents come together to enrich the student’s educational experiences and discuss variety of issues, regarding all round development of students.
Educative and enlightening tours are regularly organized for the students to visit top of the order industries. These visits provide an invaluable exposure to the students on several practical aspects of the industry and its functionality.
During the second term Industrial Visits were organized for Third year students at Amritsar and Dalhousie from 10th to 18th December, 2015 where students visited Essma Textile.
The department organized certificate course on "Tally ERP 9" for the Commerce students in coordination with Shahu Institute of Information Technology, New Panvel (Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited).
The course was scheduled from 14th October, 2015 and was conducted for 120 hours.
On the successful completion of the course the students awarded with the certificates from the Institute and the mark sheet from YashwantRao Chavan Open University (YCMOU).
Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science has been awarded the status of 'Exclusive Authorized Learning Center (ALC) for the conduct of MKCL KLiC Courses for the year 2016.
For third year students campus placement organized by Mobi Soft company.
Third year students also participated in campus placement of Nokia.
As a part of our social outreach commitment the department conducted social activity in the month of January 2016 where collected amount from students used for donation of food for 26th January programme of Vishes Kshamta Mahotsav 2016 conducted by Deaf and Mentally Challenged Residential School, Chipale.

A/F student, a member of Marathi Vangamaya Association won second prize at Matoshree Ramabai Ambedkar 33rd Intercollegiate Elocution Competition on 'Prohibition on Women's Entry into Religious Places' organized by Siddhartha College of Commerce and Economics, Fort on 22nd January, 2016.

Prof. Kavita Baddi won Best paper award in National conference on "Tribute to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam" on 24th September, 2015 by Department of B.M.S. and I.T. and C.S. of Pillai College.
