International Faculty Development Programme on "Digital Teaching and Learning Environment"
Department of B.Com. and B.Com. Accounting and Finance in association with Mumbai University College Teachers Association (MUCTA) organized Three Days International Faculty Development Programme on "Digital Teaching and Learning Environment" on 11th, 12th and 13th May, 2020.
Ms. Bhavya Ahuja Grover Faculty from Ramanujan College, University of Delhi was the resource person for all three days of the session. Mr. Harshal Kulkarni from the United Kingdom Guest of the session addressed the participants on the importance of FDP in the current era. The basic idea was to equip the teachers with hand on training on getting started with LMS, Structuring course e content, flipped classroom, screencastify hands on training were covered during the session. The main aim was to assist the teachers in smooth conduct of online classroom. Online FDP session was streamed online on youtube channel of MUCTA.
1482 participants from different colleges registered for this online FDP from national as well as international domain (Australia, United Kingdom) 5.8 thousand people viewed the live streaming. The presenters were provided with the E-certificates followed by quiz and feedback for all three days. Online FDP had very good responses from all the participants through comments on you tube live chat.
International Conference on "Innovative practices in Commerce, Management and Technology"
On 18th February 2020, B.Com. Department in association with, Student Welfare Department, University of Mumbai organized an International Conference on the topic “Innovative practices in Commerce, Management and Technology”. The basic idea was to share the innovation thoughts and give a platform to the researchers, academicians and students. Dr. Mridul Nile from University of Mumbai, Member of Senate, was the speaker of the Session. Mr Taher Dawoodwala was the Guest as industry expert from International domain. There were 17 paper presentations from academicians of different colleges and students also presented the research papers. There were 33 participants who were present and showed keen interest in the conference, which made the conference a new learning platform and exploring the innovative practices in the field of commerce, management and technology. The topics taken up by the presenters included Green Banking, Investment Pattern of youth in Navi Mumbai, Corporate Social Responsibility, Effects of Social Media, Recent Trends in E-Commerce and other such interesting papers on the given subject. The session ended with a positive note of taking back the knowledge and strong confidence among the students to take up preparation of more research. The presenters were provided with the Journal containing their research paper and the certificate of participation and presentation. Also, the participants were provided the certificate of participation.
Session on ‘Golden Saturday’
On 23rd November, 2019, B.Com. Department organized a session on ‘Golden Saturday’. It was conducted for the B.Com. students of PCACS in L-302 at 11:30 a.m. by Mr. Inder U. Sharma, B.Com alumni from the batch 2008. He is a Founder and Sr. Advisor of Awaaz Service Society.
The session included guidance on blood donation. He shared his wonderful experiences of college life and gave information about his NGO. He also talked about his activities towards women and children well-being. He gave an insight of various events that he has conducted in Navi Mumbai. Mr. Sharma had a very interactive approach throughout the session, which was liked the by the B.Com. students of PCACS.
Department of B.Com. Organized social activity on 29th June, 2019. In which students taught Basic Communication, English, and Maths to the students of Dnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule School, New Panvel. And also distributed Chocolates to the students.
The Session was very interactive and students enjoyed a lot. This Session was helpful for students to inculcate various skills and gain basic knowledge in subjects of maths, English and Communication.
50 Golden Saturdays Celebration
Department of B.Com conducted a ‘Youth Forum’ in accordance to celebration of “50 Golden Saturdays” with Alumni marking the Golden Jubilee of MES on 30th March, 2019 wherein students were guided on how to discover their Inner Drive by Ms. Nikhitha Nair and Mr. Rejith Nair of 2018 Batch. Post the address, the students presented their views on ideas that influence the Youth, viz.

50 Golden Saturdays Celebration - Be YOUnique
Department of B.Com inaugurated the celebration of “50 Golden Saturdays” with Alumni marking the Golden Jubilee of MES on 12th January, 2019 with an event “Be YOUnique” wherein students were guided on how to have their own definition of success. Alumni of 2009 and 2011 batches, Mr. Unnikrishnan P and Mr. Vibhu Mishra shared their life experience and how they followed their passion and the need to follow one’s passion for long lasting success. The event concluded with an address by Dr. Aarti Sukheja, IQAC Co-ordinator on how important uniqueness is in life.
Know Your Economy: Awareness Kindling Test - 2018-19
Department of Economics conducted a test on ‘Know Your Economy: Awareness Kindling Test - 2018-19’ in association with ‘Scientific Research Association for Economics & Finance (SRAEF)’ on Monday, 28th January, 2019. Total 160 students participated in the test. The test had Multiple Choice Questions based on the economic situation, it also featured a type of question where a picture relevant to the economic situation was given and students were asked to identify the event or happening. The test also had abbreviations, which students had to answer.
The winners of the test will be awarded prize money and certificates by Scientific Research Association for Economics & Finance (SRAEF). Whereas, other students will be given the certificate of participation by the college.
Visit to National Stock Exchange
Department of Commerce organised One Day Visit to National Stock Exchange with 46 students of S.Y.B.Com. on 6th March, 2019.
On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Bachelor of Commerce department organised a free of cost lecture for the students. It was conducted on 26th July, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. on the third floor, conclave. This seminar lecture covered the topic of career options in the defence sector. The speaker of the seminar was Retd. Major Vinay Degoankar. He guided the students on how they can make a career in defence and serve the nation. The speaker shared his experience in the defence field. The students actively participated in the seminar making it an interactive one.

In the year 1999, the Kargil War was initiated in between India and Pakistan in the Kargil district of Kashmir and along the Line Of Control (LOC). Therefore, 26th July is celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas, in order to pay respect for the martyrs of the Kargil war. Every year, the Prime Minister of India pays his/ her homage to the soldiers at Amar Jyoti at India Gate.
The Department of Bachelor's of Commerce organised a Social Activity on Organ Donation on Tuesday, 7th August, 2018. This event was conducted in association with the Rotary Club and Rotary Club Midtown. The session was arranged by District Governor, Shailesh Palekar. He addressed the gathering regarding the importance of 'Organ Donation' in India and how we are lacking in this aspect as a nation. The session took place in the College Auditorium. Around 240 students and faculty members attended the event.
The highlight of this event was that it created a new record in the Guinness Book of World Records for the highest amount of registrations for organ donation, which turned out to be 21,168.
Guest Lecture on Government Diploma in Co-operation and Accounting Certificate Course (GDCA)
The Department of Accountancy organized a Guest Lecture on Government Diploma in Co-operation and Accounting Certificate Course (GDCA) on Monday, 6th August, 2018. The Session was for the students of Master's in Commerce (M.Com.). The students admitted to this course, would get an additional qualification along with regular M.Com. Degree. It would be beneficial for them once they pass out and apply in the professional world. It will help them secure a designation of a certified Auditor in the co-operative sectors with this Course.

Mr. G. Sudheendra and Mrs. Uma Varadhan were the Spokespersons for the session. Around 50 students participated in the guest lecture on GDCA. Overall, it was an interactive session and informative too.
National Conference in association with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India
The Department of B.Com. and B.Com. (Accounting and Finance) of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science had organised One Day National Conference in association with The Institute of Company Secretaries of India on 28th July, 2018. The theme of the conference was New Dimensions in Commerce Management and Technology. The aim of the conference was to provide a platform to disseminate business intelligence. It had teaching academicians and researchers sharing their valuable experiences, ideas, innovations and research on the changing dynamic issues and the topics related to Commerce, Management and Technology.
C.S. Avaneesh Srivastava, Chairman of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Navi Mumbai Chapter and C.S. Alok Mishra of Mahanagar Gas were the Guest of the event. There were three technical sessions. First session was on ‘Company Secretary as a Career Option’, second session was based on research paper presentations and third session was on ‘Soft Skills’.
C.S. Surendra Kansthiya guided the students on the theme of ‘Company Secretary as a Career Option’. Dr. Kaustubh Sontakke was the resource person of the second session. He shared his views on various research aspects. Dr. Naveen Punjabi was the resource person of third session. There were 217 participants for the event. Teaching faculty from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Raigad attended the conference. The conference was arranged by Dr. Kiran Deshmukh, Coordinator of the Department of B.Com., Dr. Abida Khan, Coordinator of B.Com. Accounting and Finance and Ms. Lachhmi Bhatt, Assistant Director of ICSI, Navi Mumbai Chapter.
One Day Workshop on ‘Syllabus Revision of T.Y.B.Com. (Semester V & VI) - Business Economics’
Department of Business Economics in association with Board of Studies in Business Economics, University of Mumbai organised One Day Workshop on ‘Syllabus Revision of T.Y.B.Com. (Semester V & VI) - Business Economics’ on 30th June, 2018. The members of Board of Studies graced the occasion. The resource persons were Prin. Dr. Gopal K. Kalkoti, Dr. Naresh Madhavi, Dr. Yasmeen Aowte, Prof. Jayasree Venkitachalam. Prin. Dr. V. S. Adigal, Dr. Suchitra Kumar, Prof. Shivaji Pawar and Prof. Manish Gogari were also present. The workshop received an overwhelming response by partcipants from Navi Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg colleges. 44 teachers participated in the workshop.

Social Activity on Hygiene Campaign in Government School
On 22nd February, 2018, Economics Association of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce & Science, New Panvel organised a Hygiene Campaign in Raigad Zilla Parishad Primary School, Siddhi Karvale Village, Panvel, Raigad, in which the students of Economics Association visited the school. The aim of the campaign was to reduce rate of sickness among children through the simple but effective act of hand-washing. For this Economics Association installed Hand-Wash Dispensers in the School and also donated liquid soap packets. Our association students also made the children aware about the benefits of cleanliness and maintaining hygiene by washing hands. It was to create awareness for cleanliness under Government’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.
Literacy Drive in Government School
Economics Association of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce & Science, New Panvel organised a Literacy Drive in Raigad Zilla Parishad Primary School, Aadivali Village, Panvel, Raigad on 22nd February, 2018. Our association students visited the school. The aim of the drive was to create an interest towards education among students. For this Economics Association donated note books and stationery to the students. The students also made the children aware about the benefits of education.

Department of Accountancy had organised a Seminar on Creating Awareness About Government Diploma in Co-operation & Accounting for T.Y.B.Com. and T.Y.B.Com. Accounting & Finance students on 4th December, 2017 (Monday) at 3rd Floor Conclave. Around 100 students participated in the seminar. The students were made aware about the career opportunities available in this area.

Kargil Vijay Diwas
As a mark of respect for the Martyrs of the Kargil War a lecture was organised which also covered career options in defence by Retd. Major. Vinay Degoankar on 26th July, 2017 on account of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

International Yoga Day
Department of Bachelor of Commerce had organised a session on yoga on account of International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2017. Tension free and disease free life is possible only by practising yoga regularly. Teachers were trained to do basic asanas. The session was organised in association with Isha Yoga Center. 58 staff members participated in the session. Staff from engineering section also attended the same.

The Workshop received an overwhelming response from the participants of Navi Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg colleges.

Co-ordiantor at Thakur College of Arts, Commerce and Science. Second Sesion was on Preparation of Questionnaire and Review of Literature by Dr. G.K.Kalkotti, Head of Department of Economics and Research Centre at Nagindas Khandwala College of Science and Commerce. The third session was on Hands on training on Dta Analysis by Prof. Doke, Vice-Principal of M.L.Dhahanukar College of Commerce.
