Community Interface Committee, Pillai College of Arts, Commerce & Science organized Principals’ Meet on 20th August, 2018. The meet was organized to inaugurate NMCA (Navi Mumbai Colleges Association) – CIC’s First Programme. The main objective of NMCA is to promote cooperation among neighbouring Colleges with a view of improving the quality of higher education in our region by sharing the resources in Teaching, Learning, Research and Extension. In the wake of the present floods in Kerala, the NSS unit carried out donation drive to contribute to Kerala’s relief. Students generously contribute for the relief of the flood-affected people. They collected clothes, medicines, donated money to arrange for relief materials. This humanitarian gesture would eventually help people recover from an awful situation.
Pillai College has always celebrated events in style. On 18th August, 2018 the Student Council conducted an event named ‘Yaariyan’ as a special way of celebrating ‘Friendship Day’.
The Atrium was decorated beautifully and the students dressed at their best in their white outfits. The show kicked off in style with the arrival of the guest of honour, Piyush Mehroliya, who is a singer and music producer.
The event consisted of singing performances that had everyone jamming the lyrics, various dance performances that made everyone groove to the beats. Poets that spoke out Shayaris and enthusiastic anchors that kept the guests and students engaged.
There were arrangements of postcards and chocolates made to dedicate them to one’s friends. The event concluded with an awesome DJ that had everyone on the floor, dancing. It was organised in the Artificial Lawn and was a huge hit. Students enjoyed themselves to their fullest and it was surely a memorable moment.
Yaariyan is annual event organised by the Pillai College to celebrate Friendship Day in the college.
The Arts and Media Association of the Department of Bachelor of Mass Media conducted a Seminar on 16th August, 2018. This Seminar was in association with the Lakme Academy located in Kharghar. The 2 hours long seminar was conducted in the college auditorium.
A team of beauty professionals from the academy guided the students on how to groom themselves in the corporate world. The event was initiated by Ms. Naziya, the Sales Executive of the Lakme Academy. She enlightened the students about Lakme Academy and the courses it provides. A skin expert from the team shared tips for healthy skin, do’s and don’ts of skin care. She explained how one should take care of the skin according to their skin type. Also, she answered the queries asked by the students.
The highlight of the event was the beauty transformation demonstration. Ms. Lovina, a Make up Artist from past 7 years, demonstrated two make-up looks. One for a ‘Corporate Day’ look and another one a ‘Party’ look. The beauty transformation was beguiling. In make-up, covering up flaws or scars is one of foremost technique. She explained to the students about color corrections according to skin tone. On request of one of the student, Ms. Lovina skillfully covered the students’ tattoo. The event winded up by a student of the academy who shared her experience while completing her course.
It was an interactive session which was thoroughly enjoyed by the students. The workshop was very beneficial for the students who are soon going to enter the corporate world.
The Women Development Cell is organising a Guest Lecture on the topic ‘Legal Aids for Women’ led by Advocate Hardik C. It is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 14th August, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. in the classroom L 302.
The Department of Biotechnology had organized a ‘Fresher’s Party’ to welcome the students in the new academic year. It was held on 11th August, 2018 for the students of M.Sc. I batch 2018-19 in the Auditorium. It was organized by the seniors; the students of M.Sc. II actively participated to make the event a grand one. The event began at 11:30 a.m. The event started off with the prayer song and the lighting of the lamp by the faculty. The seniors performed a welcome dance. To keep the students entertained, fun activities and games were hosted. The highlight of the event was the Mr and Ms Fresher’s. The fresher’s introduced themselves in the introduction round. The winner was declared on the basis of their overall performance. The event was winded up with the distribution of refreshments for the freshers and a photo session with the faculty. The event was enjoyed by the freshers as well as the seniors. The freshers thanked their seniors and staff for hosting a wonderful event which they will cherish forever.
An Entrepreneurship Development Programme Seminar was organized in Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science in association with A Divine Ariel Events International Pvt. Ltd. on Friday, 10th August, 2018 in the PCACS Auditorium.
The Co-founder Mr. Sarath Nair and Founder Ms. Anjali Gupta were the Spokesperson for the Session. An approximate of 300 students had attended the Seminar. It was an Interactive Session wherein, the students were asked to perform activities in order to Inculcate Confidence and to get out of their fear. Students asked queries and also answered to the required Questions. Being an Alumni of PCACS Ms. Anjali Gupta shared her Experience from being a student to being an Entrepreneur.
‘The Better You’ is a result oriented programme which deals with real time learning, hands on activities, result oriented tasks and self exploratory tools. Apart from focusing on Overall Development of an individual, the programme also stimulates Business and Corporate related activities that equip students to face real life situations.
The Placement Cell conducted a Visit to Barclays office on Friday, 10th August, 2018. It was organised for the third year students of Information Technology and Computer Science department.
The students visited the Barclays office in order to be trained for Placements. Pick up and drop facility was provided to them by the bank. Where, they reached their office by 10:00 a.m. and were back by 6:00 p.m. There were an approximate of 15 students. The main motto of the visit was to get knowledge of how to face Interviews and Group Discussions.
Barclays PLC is a British multinational Investment Bank and Financial Services Company. It has its headquarters in London. Apart from Investment Banking, Barclay has many more businesses such as Corporate Banking, Wealth Management, Personal Banking and Investment Management.
