Department of B.Com. organized Social Activity on 29th June, 2019. In which students taught Basic Communication, English and Maths to the students of Dnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule School, New Panvel. And also distributed Chocolates to the students.
The Session was very interactive and students enjoyed a lot. This Session was helpful for students to inculcate various skills and gain basic knowledge in subjects of maths, English and Communication.
The Finanza Association conducted social activity on 21st February, 2019. The member students of Finanza Association contributed Washroom Cleaning products to P.M.P. Municipal School, New Panvel. The objective of the activity was to spread the awareness about personal hygiene and cleanliness. Prof. Sharavathi C. and Prof. Poonam Gupta accompanied students. Around 15 students accompanied by two faculty member visited the school. All the Teachers, students and Principal of the school were very co-operative. And they appreciated the efforts taken by teacher and students for the noble cause.

The Arts and Media Association of the B.M.M. Department organized a Social Activity on 2nd July, 2018. The female students of S.Y. and T.Y. B.M.M. paid a visit to a municipal corporation school in the vicinity of the college named, Gyan Jyoti Savitribai Phule School, New Panvel.

It is a vernacular medium school, so the language that was chosen by the speakers was Marathi for the students’ understanding and comfort. The workshop was on the topic, ‘Menstrual Hygiene’ for the female students in grade six and seven. The speakers guided them on various topics such as puberty, menstrual cycle, personal hygiene, sex education, good and bad touch.
Charts were prepared by the students of T.Y. B.M.M. to illustrate the topics for a better understanding of the students. At the end of the workshop, sanitary pads were distributed to the students. It was an interactive session where the students answered the questions of the speakers.
Mathematics and Statistics Association conducted Social Event for the second term on 23rd March, 2018. Association members provided lunch for homeless people around the Panvel Railway station.
Economics Association of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce & Science, New Panvel organised a Literacy Drive in Raigad Zilla Parishad Primary School, Aadivali Village, Panvel, Raigad on 22nd February, 2018. Our association students visited the school. The aim of the drive was to create an interest towards education among students. For this Economics Association donated note books and stationery to the students. The students also made the children aware about the benefits of education.
On 22nd February, 2018, Economics Association of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce & Science, New Panvel organised a Hygiene Campaign in Raigad Zilla Parishad Primary School, Siddhi Karvale Village, Panvel, Raigad, in which the students of Economics Association visited the school. The aim of the campaign was to reduce rate of sickness among children through the simple but effective act of hand-washing. For this Economics Association installed Hand-Wash Dispensers in the School and also donated liquid soap packets. Our association students also made the children aware about the benefits of cleanliness and maintaining hygiene by washing hands. It was to create awareness for cleanliness under Government’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.
Students of F.Y.B.M.M. visited at Nagar Palika School situated in New Panvel as a part of ‘Social Service Activity’ on 24th January, 2018.
Cakes were distributed among the students on the pre-ceremony of Republic Day and activities like singing of patriotic songs and speeches were given to motivate the students.
When a person has high level of emotional intelligence, he empathizes with the people around and realizes his responsibility towards the society. To realize such responsibility, real life experiences and interactions are of the utmost importance.
The S.Y.B.M.M. students of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science, New Panvel were given an opportunity to learn one such responsibility. They visited the Girija Foundation Orphanage on 19th January, 2018 and provided them with notebooks, pencils, colors and other stationery items to the children of Girija Foundation in Panvel. Students – Nidhi and Anushree sang a beautiful song for them, we played passing the parcel which indeed we ended up noticing their talents and the spirit of living the life.
Our students learned the value of sharing and caring for others; and the people of the orphanage appreciated this gesture of the students. Indeed, a smile goes a long way.
