Alumni Meet on 17th March, 2018
To take a walk down the corridors of nostalgia, the Second Alumni Meet, Techies Meet 2018, was inaugurated by the Vice Principal Mrs. Deepika Sharma, Prof. Rashmi Chavan on 17th March, 2018. The meet started traditionally with the lighting of lamp by all teachers of B.Sc.I.T. and B.Sc.C.S. Department was followed by the recital song Saraswati Vandana.
The occasion was graced by more than 150 Alumni and their family members ranging across various batches from various parts of the country and outside the country as well. Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Principal underlined and praised the achievements of Alumni of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science in all walks / spheres of life. She felt that it was matter of great pride for PCACS that its Alumni are holding positions of responsibility in various organizations, Private sector, Academic Institutions. Many of them are successful entrepreneurs providing jobs to others as well. She praised their contribution towards the growth of their Alma Mater and emphasized the need for further strengthening the linkage between the Alumni and PCACS Panvel and current students.
The Inaugural session was followed by cultural programme by our students and alumni and artists of Language and Cultural Dept. of B.Sc.I.T. and B.Sc.C.S. with current dance forms. Great bonhomie was observed everywhere with old students reliving their old memories with their batch mates, seniors and juniors. Many of the current students were also seen interacting with their pass out seniors and learning from their experiences. In all, the ambiance was electric with people seen chatting and dancing in groups.
The key highlight of the day was the Department felicitated 4 of its alumni, Mr. Mochesh Chandran with “Pride of PCACS Award 2018”, Mr. Anmol Shrivastav with “Young Entrepreneur Award 2018”, Mr. Vikhit Jain and Mr. Pankaj Kumar with “Budding Artist 2018” for their outstanding achievements in their field of work.
The event also included the prize distribution ceremony of various Computer Association events, BITFEST events and Best Student of the Department. Winners of the events were felicitated by alumni.
The annual general house witnessed active involvement of the alumnus and a number of commendable suggestions and proposals came up, some of which were approved and the left were set aside for later action. It was decided to strengthen the link between the current Pillai students and alumni for their support to current students in the area of training, placement, career counseling and any other help. The Meet ended with promise to meet again and everyone bid emotional farewell to each other.
Techies Alumni Meet 2017 on 25th February, 2017
The Alumni Meet was the first event of its kind to be conducted by the Department of I.T. and C.S. Alumni from Batch 1 i.e. 2001-2004 onwards were in attendance for this one-of-a-kind reunion. Around 200 alumni attended the event.
The event included the Prize Distribution Ceremony of various Computer Association events, BITFEST events and Best Student of Department. Winners of the events were felicitated by alumni.
The Department felicitated Mr. Pushpendu Rakshit with “Alumni Achiever Award 2017” for his outstanding achievements in his field of work.
Department of I.T. and C.S. in association with Campus Credential, organized a One Day Faculty Development Programme on “Data Analytics” on 11th November, 2017. Mr. Divya Jotwani, Client Technical Support, IBM Systems was the resource person for this session.
Department of I.T. and C.S. organized an Expert Guidance Session for T.Y.B.Sc. (Computer Science) students on 21st September, 2016. Resource person for the guidance session was Mr. Vipul Saluja (M.Phil., M.Sc.) from R. D. National College, Bandra. He is member of B.Sc. (C.S.) syllabus committee of University of Mumbai.
Department of I.T. and C.S. organized their Annual Techfest – “BITFEST” on 12th and 13th August, 2016. [BITFEST Report]
Mrs. Deepika Sharma, Mrs. Padmaja G. and Ms. Shradhha Kulkarni of the Department of I.T. and C.S. attended One Day Session on “Career Opportunities for B.Sc. Graduates in TCS and the way ahead” organized by TCS Mumbai Talent Acquisition group on 20th April, 2016.
Ms. Pooja Pandey, a faculty member of the Department of I.T. and C.S., has submitted the paper “Sentiment classification in Hindi by using a Hindisentiwordnet (HSWN)”, which has been approved and presented for publication in the sixth International Conference on
Computational Intelligence and Information Technology, CIIT 2016, which is organized by the Association of Computer, Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineers (ACEECom) – a Division of the IDES.
Ms. Pooja Pandey, faculty member of the Department of I.T. and C.S., bagged Ist prize at Zonal Level of State Level Inter – University “Avishkar Research Convention Competition”, December 2015.
She was felicitated by the University of Mumbai on 15th June, 2016. Felicitation ceremony was adorned by the Vice Chancellor of University of Mumbai, Dr. Sanjay Deshmukh; Dr. M.A. Khan – Registrar, University of Mumbai; Dr. Anil Patil – Director of BCUD. (Board of College and University Development).
The Department of I.T. and C.S. Announces Faculty Development Programme on “Java Programming” in association with “Oracle University” from 28th March, 2016 to 2nd April, 2016.
The Department of I.T. and C.S. invited one of its Alumni, Mr. Anmol Srivastav, Sharepoint Administrator at L&T Infotech (Airoli) on 17th December, 2015. He discussed the importance of Campus Placements and critical situation of Jobs in the I.T. Industry. His interesting talks gave a real food for thought to the students and triggered a healthy discussion related to career prospects of young techies.
S.Y.B.Sc. (C.S.) students organized a warm Farewell Party for T.Y.B.Sc. (C.S.) students on 20th February, 2016. It was full of fun, emotions and loads of best wishes.
The Department of I.T. and C.S. organized an Industrial Visit to Wipro Technologies, Pune on 23rd February, 2016. 135 students and 3 faculty members visited the company. There a seminar was organized for the students about the latest technologies they are using and their forthcoming projects.
The proud moment was when our ALUMNI working with WIPRO shared their experiences and discussed about MS Progamme and WIPRO Training.

The Department of I.T. & C.S. organized a Guidance Session on “How to crack CET & CAT” on January 13, 2016. Resource person for the session was Mr. Ravneet Gandhi, Founder, CET King.
The Department of IT & CS organized a Career Counseling Session on 13th January, 2016 for T.Y.B.Sc.I.T. and T.Y.B.Sc.C.S. students. Mrs. Jayalexmi, H.O.D. of M.C.A. at Sterling Institute of Management Studies, Nerul, guided students about the C.E.T. for M.C.A. Course.
Industrial Visit was arranged for S.Y.B.Sc.(C.S.) students to Delhi – Agra – Jaipur. Students were given insight into the ways software industry works in Compucomp Software Ltd., Jaipur.
One day Faculty Development Programme on “Installation, configuration and usage of Moodle” in the month of September.
The department organized a Job Fest, in association with SEED IMS, Vashi on 22nd August, 2015. The aim of this fest was to give another placement opportunity to students of 2013-14 and 2014-15 batch. It was open to other colleges students too. Very good response was given by students from all over Navi Mumbai. The following companies participated :

The department organized a “Technical Fest : BITFEST” on 2nd September, 2015. The fest had various events like digital poster making, coding competition etc.
Highlights of the event are :
- A special computer laboratory with LAN was set up by the students of B.Sc. (I.T.) and B.Sc. (C.S.) for e-gaming.
- e-treasure hunt: This event was, treasure hunt with a Technical Twist. The clues for the game were bar-coded by students.
Ms. Deepika Sharma, H.O.D. (I.T. and C.S.), Ms. Padmaja Ganti, Head of Placement Cell and Ms. Shubhangi Pawar, faculty member attended “Industry – Academia Summit : Ascend 2015” at WIPRO, Powai on 8th August, 2015.
Our college was felicitated for Outstanding contribution to Industry – Academia partnership by Mr. Rajeev Kumar (Global Head – Campus Hiring @ Wipro)
The Department of I.T. and C.S. in association with the Department of Management Studies organized a National Conference on “A Tribute to Dr. A.P.J. Kalam : India Vision 2020” on 24th September, 2015.
