Social Activity
Literary Association’s student members conducted a Social Activity in Manav Vikas School, Panvel. A school build for special kids, the student members gifted crayons and a sheet of A4 size drawing paper. As part of the activity, specially-able students had to draw whatever they wanted to. This activity explored the creative side of these children. Towards, the end of the activity both the students from Literary Association as well as from Manav Vikas School were happy and content.
Battle of Wits - Block and Tackle
Literary Association of PCACS celebrated its first event of 2019-20 – ‘Battle of Wits - Block and Tackle’ on 18th September, 2019.
Block and Tackle is a stand-out event from the conventional form of Debate where the contestants have to Block (Talk in against of the topic given) and Tackle (Talk in favor of the topic given). Prof. Akshata Narkar and Prof. Juliet Esther, Literary Association Teacher In-Charge judged the event.
It was first event of this academic year and yet we received an amazing feedback from the participants and that defines the main aim of Literary Association. After the participants enrolled themselves they were given some topics which are timely and relevant in our Country and hold crucial importance. After 5 minutes of preparations the participants were asked to speak for and against on the given topic. The game was all about the quick use of wit and presence of mind and the contestants truly did an amazing job.
All the contestants really gave a tough time to the judges to decide the winner but after a lot of deliberation the winners were announced. Felicitation was done by the Judges and the event ended on a happy note.
The Orator - An Elocution Competition was organized by the Literary Association of PCACS on 6th October, 2018. The objective was to spread awareness about self love and to enhance the confidence and the communication skills of the students. The event witnessed participation from different streams and students from all over the college spoke their views on the topic "The Art of Loving Oneself".
The event was judged by Asst. Prof. Mishkaat Imrani from the Department of Bachelor of Mass Media. Every participant added beauty to the topic but the ones to win the top four positions were, Ms. Aaliya Shaikh (F.Y. B.M.M.), Ms. Deepthi Rao G. N. (F.Y. B.M.M.), Mr. Aditya Soyanke (F.Y. B.M.M.) and Ms. Hrudya Tressa (T.Y. B.Com.A/F) respectively. The event concluded with a thought provoking address by the Judge, Ms. Mishkaat Imrani, followed by the vote of thanks by Ms. Gurpreet Kaur Khalsa, In-Charge, Literary Association.
To develop the ability to analyze controversies, select and evaluate evidence, construct and refute arguments, ‘Block and Tackle’ Competition was conducted on 4th August, 2015. Block and Tackle is a turncoat debate on a faster track. Whenever the participant hears the instruction “Block” he / she has to go against the motion and as the participant hears “Tackle” he / she has to go back to favour the motion. The speaker can be blocked and tackled any number of times. The students were allowed to pick their topics from the lots and speak on the spot. The competition witnessed students’ participants from all the streams.

To provide a platform for students to show case their general writing skills and to give them the liberty to express their views on subject an Essay Writing Competition was conducted on 9th September, 2014 on "Role as an Indian citizen during the flood crises in Kashmir". The essay topic was announced to the participants 10 minutes prior to commencement of the competition. The students were allowed to write in any one of the three languages (English / Hindi / Marathi). The competition witnessed students’ participants from all the streams.

Creative writing forms a medium to express our thoughts, views to make ourselves heard to others. To encourage this skill among students, Literary Association organised a creative writing competition on 2nd September, 2013. The students were allowed to write in any one of the three languages (English / Hindi / Marathi).

Reading plays a pivotal role in everyday life. Reading is a combination of intellectual and linguistic process which should be developed throughout life. To develop good reading skills and to encourage students to read, Literary Association organised News reading Competition on 30th August, 2011.

Literary Association organised an invited talk on “Being Ordinary to Extraordinary”. This session was headed by Mr. Sanjay Rahate.
Literary Association conducted an event titled ‘Mind Reads the Rhythm’. This was a competition that judges the comprehension ability of the participants. It was an individual event wherein each participant was given a poem. The participants were allowed to read the poem for a minute, following which, the participant reads it loud for the next minute. This helps to judge the participants command and fluency over the language. In the third minute, the participant was expected to explain his/her understanding of the poem. The event was conducted in Coordinators room. The judge for the day was PCACS Counselor, Ms. Yvette Lee.
