Pillai College Marathi Vangmay Mandal conducts Debate Competition
Pillai College has always promoted the various human arts; and this was proved once again, when the Marathi Vangmay Mandal organised a debate competition in Marathi language on 11th September 2018.
The term Vangmay Mandal in Marathi means a literature association. In a time where English dominates other languages, it was nice to see support for the Marathi. The event was well received, with 8 teams of students participating. Various social topics were given to them for the debate. The topics selected were relevant to current social issues in life. The event was judged by Mrs. Prajakta Kane. The format of the competition was an interactive session, where every student was given a chance to put across their points. Certificates were awarded to the winners and runners-up participants.
The Marathi Vangmay Mandal of PCACS conducted a Social Activity on 16th August, 2018. Marathi Vangmay Mandal is formed to inculcate and grow Marathi literature among students. The activity was conducted in a Zilla Parishad School located in Sukhapur, Panvel. The volunteers of the committee performed a skit on health and hygiene for students aged between 5 to 14 years. A group of 8 boys performed a skit on health, diet and nutrition for primary students. A group of 6 girls performed a skit on the menstrual cycle for female students aged 10 to 14 years. The language chosen was Marathi. The visual sketch was beneficial for the students to make them aware of the topics like health, diet and nutrition. It was an interesting activity in which the students showed their keen interest.
Marathi Debate Competition
The Marathi Vangmaya Mandal of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science conducted a Marathi Debate Competition on Thursday, 30th August, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in L-403 of the PCACS campus.
Students of Marathi Vangmay Mandal of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science, New Panvel conducted Community Service on 13th September, 2017 in Girija Orphanage, Panvel. This orphanage has around 75 students under the age group of 10-20 years. Our Students entertained them by playing various games and giving away some prizes. Also made them understand the importance of discipline and Personal hygiene. The kids in this orphanage enjoyed a lot interacting with our students. Also students could learn the importance of everything they have today. They got an opportunity to serve for the society.
The Period Power and privacy
A group visited a girls school in Sukhapur, Panvel on 25th September, 2017 and spoke to them about the less spoken menstruation and how to maintain personal hygiene. They enacted a short story showing the initial reaction and first phase that a girl goes through. It was a rare initiative taken as subjects like these are more to be not spoken about. And our students knowing the importance of spreading awareness on cleanliness and hygiene during this time chose to reach out to girls who fall in this group.The school teachers were happy and the girls got answers to most of their questions from our students.
International Women’s Day
"Women Development Cell and Marathi Vangamaya Mandal celebrated “International Women’s day” on 8th March 2017 by felicitating all working women’s in Panvel Railway Station premises as well as all teaching and non-teaching staff member of Pillai college of Arts, Commerce and Science New Panvel. They were felicitated by offering a rose and giving them special batches made by students conveying the message “You Are Special”. 500 working Women were felicitated."
Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din
Marathi Vangamaya Mandal celebrated Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din on 27th February, 2017 as a tribute to V. V. Shirwadkar’s Birth Anniversary. A Guest Lecture was conducted for the members of Marathi Vangamaya Mandal. Advocate Prathmesh Soman was the Chief Guest for the event, who addressed the students with Marathi Literature. He guided the students on use of Marathi Bhasha Gaurav in day to day working. Also make everyone aware about the literature available in marathi language, how Marathi language can be preserve.
Shiv Jayanti Celebration
Marathi Vangamaya Mandal celebrated Shiv Jayanti on 18th February, 2017. Dr. Gajanan Wader was honoured as a Chief Guest to grace the occasion. Many students actively participated in the celebration. They performed various traditional Maharashtrian dance forms such as Gondhal, Naman, Powada, lathi-kathi etc. They also performed skit on whole life of Shivaji Maharaj. An exhibition was arranged which had all the details relating to life of Shivaji Maharaj. Programme came to an end followed by performance of Naadsphurti Dhol tasha pathak. All the students and teachers participated in this event by wearing Maharashtrian attire.
Indian Constitution Day
Marathi Vangamaya Mandal celebrated Indian Constitution Day on 26th November, 2016 with guest lecture on ‘Structure of the Indian Constitution’. Speaker for the ceremony was Mr. S. A. Bangare. Constitution Day is celebrated in India on 26th November every year to mark the august occasion when Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India on behalf of the people of India.
Marathi Elocution Competition
Member of Marathi Vangamaya Mandal Riddhi Mhatre (FYBMM) won Marathi Elocution Competition organised by Loksatta, a leading Marathi newspaper on 8th February, 2016.
Marathi Elocution Competition
Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar had died on 6th December in the 1956. This day is considered as Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Mahaparinirvan Din or death anniversary which is celebrated every year all over the India. On account of death anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Marathi Vangamaya Mandal organised "Elocution Competition" on the topic "The Father of Indian Constitution" on 5th December, 2015 to pay him a lot of tribute and honor.

Report of Article Writing Competition
Marathi Vangamaya Mandal of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science had organized “Article writing competition” on 19th September 2015, to inculcate the creative thinking and develop the literary skills among the students. The competition was conducted in Marathi. Different areas were covered “Lahan kutumb sukhi kutumb”, “Andhashradha- ek Shaap”, “Andhashraddha hi samajala lagleli kid”, “Andhshradheche Nirmulan”, “College life”, “Mobile Vidhyathyacha mitra ki shatru”. All current issues were covered in the articles.
