The National Service Scheme of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science, New Panvel organized a social camp in the adopted village, Ghot Gaon, MIDC Taloja from 13th to 19th January, 2020. The social camp was hosted with the help of Municipal Corporation and former Nagarsevak of the village. The main purpose of the camp was to promote ‘Swachhta’ in the village. There were 90 student volunteers under the surveillance of NSS Chief Programme Officer of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Prof. Shabab Rizvi who did the planning, coordination and execution of the whole camp with zeal. All the activities planned were successfully executed like Swach Bharat Abhiyaan, Swachhta hi Seva, Alcoholism, Technology and Family, Old age is Gold age, Jal hai to Kaal hai, Me and N.S.S, etc. The social camp also held special lectures for student’s development like Personality Development by Dr. B. S. Patil, Competitive Exam and National Services by Dr. Samrat Jadhav, Dental Awareness by Dr. Shilpa Vaishampayan and Dr. Anupam, Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat by Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, Sex Education by Dr. Arun Ranade, etc. Some of the guests who graced us with their presence in the camp for guiding students were Dr. Gajanan Wader (Principal of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science), Mr. Diwakar Kadam (Area coordinator of N.S.S.), Mr. Dyaneshwar Suresh Patil (Nagarsevak of adopted village), Mr. Suresh Patil & Mr. Sandesh Kumar Patil (Principal, Z.P. School, Ghot gaon). There were also some important people working in the department of Panvel Municipal Corporation who came to the camp to share their experiences and knowledge on Cleanliness management with their volunteers. The overall environment of the camp was disciplined and well structured. It was rich in practical knowledge and experience which introduced human skills into students. The camp was conscious of not exploiting the resources of the village and keeping the villager’s consent as higher consideration. It was as a whole a fruitful experience for the college students and a helping hand for the residents of the village with the guidance and active involvement of all the Guests.
