The National Service Scheme of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science, New Panvel organized a social camp in the adopted village, Ghot Gaon, MIDC Taloja from 13th to 19th January, 2020. The social camp was hosted with the help of Municipal Corporation and former Nagarsevak of the village. The main purpose of the camp was to promote ‘Swachhta’ in the village. There were 90 student volunteers under the surveillance of NSS Chief Programme Officer of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Prof. Shabab Rizvi who did the planning, coordination and execution of the whole camp with zeal. All the activities planned were successfully executed like Swach Bharat Abhiyaan, Swachhta hi Seva, Alcoholism, Technology and Family, Old age is Gold age, Jal hai to Kaal hai, Me and N.S.S, etc. The social camp also held special lectures for student’s development like Personality Development by Dr. B. S. Patil, Competitive Exam and National Services by Dr. Samrat Jadhav, Dental Awareness by Dr. Shilpa Vaishampayan and Dr. Anupam, Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat by Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, Sex Education by Dr. Arun Ranade, etc. Some of the guests who graced us with their presence in the camp for guiding students were Dr. Gajanan Wader (Principal of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science), Mr. Diwakar Kadam (Area coordinator of N.S.S.), Mr. Dyaneshwar Suresh Patil (Nagarsevak of adopted village), Mr. Suresh Patil & Mr. Sandesh Kumar Patil (Principal, Z.P. School, Ghot gaon). There were also some important people working in the department of Panvel Municipal Corporation who came to the camp to share their experiences and knowledge on Cleanliness management with their volunteers. The overall environment of the camp was disciplined and well structured. It was rich in practical knowledge and experience which introduced human skills into students. The camp was conscious of not exploiting the resources of the village and keeping the villager’s consent as higher consideration. It was as a whole a fruitful experience for the college students and a helping hand for the residents of the village with the guidance and active involvement of all the Guests.
10 Students of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce & Science (Autonomous), New Panvel qualified for University round at Avishkar Research Convention 2019-20, University of Mumbai held at Khalapur on 22nd December, 2019.
“Our PhD students, Mr. Girish Kudav and Mr. Shravan Bane under the PPG category have bagged *GOLD* medal and *SILVER* medal respectively and have successfully qualified for the State Level Avishkar Research Convention 2019-20.”
World Aids Day observed annually on 3rd December, 2019 is dedicated to raising awareness to the Aids pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection.
The N.S.S. Unit observed this day by involving young students in the awareness campaign. The volunteers actively participated in spreading awareness and believe that the future generation has the ability to sensitize others and prevent spread of HIV.
The NSS volunteers carrying placards took part in the rally to create awareness among the public and youth on HIV/AIDS. The rally began from college to Panvel.
The FINANZA Association of B.Com. (Accounting and Finance) of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science conducted One Day Intra Departmental Quiz Competition on Friday 30th November, 2019. The competition got more 25 entries of B.Com.A&F students of all the years i.e. First Year, Second Year and Third Year. The quiz was conducted in 3 rounds where the knowledge of the participants was tested based on their knowledge in general sense, general awareness, politics, sports and finance. The event took place under the guidance of Prof. Sunita Saini and Prof. Chaitanya Athalye. The quiz competition ended at 1:30 p.m. and the three winners, Hriday Arora from S.Y. B.Com.A&F A (First), Abizer Kachwala from S.Y. B.Com.A&F A (Second) and Shubham Naik from F.Y. B.Com.A&F A (Third) were finally decided at the end of the third round and were felicitated by the principal Dr. Gajanan Wader. The participants enjoyed the quiz and gave a positive feedback.
The NSS unit in association with Maharashtra Police Boys Company paid tribute to the security personnel killed in the Mumbai terror attacks on 26th November, 2019. On the 11th anniversary of the Mumbai terror attacks, we remember everyone who lost their lives and mourn with their families. A grateful nation salutes the security personnel who made the supreme sacrifice.
National Service Scheme of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce & Science, New Panvel organized the celebration of Constitution Day on 26th November, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the college campus. Prof. Gurpreet Kaur Kalsa, Pillai College Arts, Commerce & Science, delivered an informative speech about constitution of India. Total 120 NSS volunteers were present for the programme.

Komal Shinde of T.Y.B.Com was identified and recognized for her outstanding services in community and announced the NSS Best Volunteer Award from Raigad District. The objective of this Award is to recognize and reward outstanding contributions towards voluntary community service.
On 5th October, 2019, PCACS’s Placement Department celebrated a day, which is part of Golden Saturdays with Alumni on account of 50 years of M.E.S. in 2020. PCACS and Placement Cell hosted an event named, ‘Gap between College and Industry / Company and Employability’. As part of the Securities Exchange Board of INDIA’s (SEBI) Initiative to spread MUTUAL FUND AWARENESS, LKW’s Partner Firm, Jai Vatnani & Co. (JVC) has been mandated by a leading Asset Management Company to conduct a program of up to a maximum of 75-90 minutes with Q&A. The minimum number of participants mandated was 40-45 per Program.
