Introduction
The Training and Placement Cell organized a successful Job Fair on 20th January, 2024, exclusively for the students of Pillai College. More than 1100 students’ participated and 43 companies were there to provide Job opportunities to students.

The College Job Fair 2024 was a successful event that brought together Human Resources (HRs) representatives from various esteemed companies. The event aimed to provide students with opportunities to connect with potential employers and explore career options.

Pre-event Preparation

Registration and Breakfast
The HR representatives began their day by registering and enjoying breakfast. This informal session allowed them to interact with each other, fostering a conducive environment.

Stall Allocations
Post breakfast, HRs proceeded to set up their individual stalls. Each company had a designated area, well-equipped with information brochures, company profiles, and interactive displays to engage with students effectively.

Time-Slot Allocation
Students were divided into three batches, each assigned a specific time slot to attend the job fair. This organized approach ensured that both students and HRs could make the most of their interactions. To streamline the process, students were provided with color-coded ribbons corresponding to their allotted time slots. This visual identification facilitated smooth navigation and avoided overcrowding at the stalls.

Job Fair Proceedings

Scheduled Sessions
The job fair commenced according to the scheduled time slots for each batch. This systematic approach prevented congestion and allowed HRs to focus on each group of students attentively.

Interactive Sessions
HRs engaged in meaningful conversations with students, discussing job opportunities, company culture, and career paths. Interactive activities.

Lunch Break
A break was scheduled for lunch between 1p.m. to 1:45p.m.

Before the felicitation of HRs, each representative was invited to share feedback and suggestions for future events, fostering continuous improvement and collaboration between the Training and Placement Cell and industry partners.

Felicitation of HRs
Positive feedback from HRs underscored the success of the event, culminating in a felicitation ceremony to acknowledge their valuable contribution. HRs were presented with thoughtfully curated goody bags as tokens of appreciation. These bags contained relevant information about the college, local attractions, and small tokens representing the spirit of the event.

Volunteer Escort
To conclude the event, volunteers extended courtesy by escorting HR representatives to the exit, reflecting the spirit of hospitality and gratitude.

Introduction
Orientation sessions were conducted by the Training and Placement Cell for the Second and third year students of PCACS. The purpose of the orientation was to provide comprehensive information and guidance to the students about the various aspects of the placement process and the role of the Placement Cell in assisting them with their future career endeavors.

The orientation was attended by all second year and third year students of PCACS, It was facilitated by the Training and Placement Cell Head and coordinators along with key faculty members and representatives from the Placement Cell.

Registration for Placement Support: The procedure for registering with the Placement Cell to avail placement support and resources was outlined, with a strong emphasis on timely registration.

Eligibility Criteria for Placement Assistance: The eligibility criteria for availing placement assistance were clearly communicated to the students, ensuring a clear understanding of the requirements.

Rules and Regulations: The rules and regulations governing the placement process, including attendance, behaviour, and code of conduct during interviews, were presented to maintain professionalism and integrity.

Introduction
Comprehensive training sessions were conducted for final year students in Arts, Commerce, and Science, addressing soft skills, aptitude development and Resume Building to prepare them for assessments, job interviews, and placements. Further counseling sessions and mock interviews were also conducted for students who required guidance for their career and for pre preparedness for campus placements.
The program was run in batches consisting of 50/51 candidates divided as technical and non technical groups.

  1. Soft Skills Development
    Led by Ms. Harsha Nair, sessions on personality development emphasized self-awareness, confidence building, and emotional intelligence. Communication skills were honed through techniques in verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, and articulation. Voice modulation and presentation skills were also addressed to enhance students’ effectiveness in conveying ideas with clarity and impact.
  2. Aptitude training
    Conducted by Vidhya Nair, the training covered verbal, non-verbal, logical, and mathematical reasoning, equipping students with the necessary skills to excel in various assessment formats. The focus was on enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving abilities across all domains.
  3. Suhel Sir
    Resume building
    sessions to final year students can be framed as an essential step towards preparing them for the professional world. As they embark on the threshold of their professional journey, it’s crucial to equip students with the tools and skills necessary to stand out in today’s competitive job market. One such tool is your resume, which serves as your first impression on potential employers.
  4. Career Counselling
    Mr. Suhel Yahoo, Ms. Harsha Nair, and Ms. Vidhya Nair teamed up to guide students through a career counselling session. Drawing from their backgrounds in education and industry know-how, they offered their insights into today’s job market. Encouraging self-discovery, they urged students to embrace their strengths and passions, steering them towards fitting career paths. Through lively discussions, personalized assessments, and relatable anecdotes, they helped students map out their future with confidence. They addressed each student’s concerns, tailoring advice to fit their aspirations.
  5. Mock interviews
    Mock interview session aims to enhance students’ interview skills and boost their confidence as they prepare to step into the professional world. The session was structured into three categories: Personal Interview Round, Aptitude Test and Group Discussion Round.
    Through this comprehensive approach, we aim to equip students with the necessary tools to excel in interview cracking and beyond. While the mock interview period saw active participation, there’s an opportunity to enhance scores through targeted improvements in communication skills and focused interview preparation. The positive transformations noted indicate the program’s potential impact, emphasizing the importance of ongoing support and feedback for continual growth.

Methodology
Each session adopted a participatory approach, combining lectures, interactive activities, role-plays, and multimedia presentations to engage students actively. This dynamic learning environment encouraged collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.

Outcome
Students demonstrated tangible improvements in confidence, communication abilities, and presentation skills. They reported feeling more prepared and self-assured in interview scenarios, displaying enhanced clarity and effectiveness in expressing their ideas. To assist students in crafting a compelling and effective resume, we’re excited to introduce resume building sessions tailored specifically for final year students.
