He is a member of Divine path that works towards positive living. Subjects like how to live effectively, how to improve the power of concentration & memory, how to plan ones goals and achieve them.
The Value Based Education Cell of PCACS on 7th July, 2018 conducted a Seminar on “How to improve the quality of life”. The Seminar was held in the auditorium for the students of various streams. This seminar was conducted by Mr. Ashok Sathaye along with Co-ordinator Mamta Shetty. It was attended by over 300 students including faculty members.
Mr. Ashok Sathaye is a member of ‘Divine Path’ which works towards positive living. The seminar was conducted in two sessions for the students. It acknowledged a lot of important topics through discussions and activities. Some of the topics were “How to live effectively”, “How to improve the power of concentration and memory”, “How to plan one’s goals and achieve them” and “How to be successful”.
The interactive session was highly informative and eye-opening for the students irrespective of their streams and fields.

Department of Business Economics in association with Board of Studies in Business Economics, University of Mumbai organised One Day Workshop on ‘Syllabus Revision of T.Y.B.Com. (Semester V & VI) – Business Economics’ on 30th June, 2018. The members of Board of Studies graced the occasion. The resource persons were Prin. Dr. Gopal K. Kalkoti, Dr. Naresh Madhavi, Dr. Yasmeen Aowte, Prof. Jayasree Venkitachalam. Prin. Dr. V. S. Adigal, Dr. Suchitra Kumar, Prof. Shivaji Pawar and Prof. Manish Gogari were also present. The workshop received an overwhelming response by partcipants from Navi Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg colleges. 44 teachers participated in the workshop.
Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the institution organized a Workshop on the theme: ‘Revised Assessment & Accreditation Process by NAAC’ on 28th March, 2018 which was attended by IQAC Coordinators / Members of various colleges. Objective of the Workshop was to get clarity on the revised NAAC process which has been implemented from July 2017.
Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the institution organised a Symposium on 26th March, 2018 on the theme “Best Practices in Degree Colleges for Quality Enhancement”. IQAC Coordinators / Members of various colleges shared their institutional best practices. The symposium was well received as it was an opportunity for all to learn together, to interchange ideas, and enable transference of best practices from one system to another.
The Department of Biotechnology and Biotechnology Association of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science (PCACS), New Panvel, organized a State Level Seminar on “Advances in Medical Biotechnology” on 1st March, 2018 (Thursday). One hundred and ninety six participants comprising students & faculty members from different colleges including PCACS participated in the seminar.
The distinguished guests formally inaugurated the event at 9.30 a.m. by lighting the lamp. Dr. Gajanan Wader, I/c Principal, PCACS welcomed the gathering. Chief Guest, Dr. Siddhivinayak S. Barve, Chairman, Board of Studies in Biotechnology, University of Mumbai, welcomed the participants and delivered an informative and wonderful speech highlighting the vital role of Biotechnology in our lives. Opening remarks were given by Prof. Gopakumar Pillai, Convener of the Seminar. Dr. Krutika Desai, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology, Mithibai College delivered the Key note address on “New approaches in development of Antibacterials”. In her converse, she explained the importance of antibacterial molecules and its mechanisms, spread of antibacterial resistance and development of better antimicrobial drugs. Her lecture was very interesting and informative. The first technical session started at 11.00 a.m. by Dr. Parag Saudagar, Director, SK Biobiz Pvt. Ltd., Nashik. He delivered the lecture on “Bacillus spores as Probiotic”. He described the benefits of various probiotics and its development with emphasis on Bacillus probiotics. The second speaker of the session Dr. Divyashree S., Infection Specialist, MGM New Bombay Hospital, Vashi, gave the lecture on “Emerging and reemerging infections: Challenges and Control measures”. In her talk, she discussed the ways by which infections can reemerge and also explained routes of emergence of new infections with current status worldwide. The second technical session began at 2.00 p.m. following lunch. The session commenced with the lecture of Dr. Dhanjit Kumar Das, Scientist D., Genetic Research Centre, NIRRH. He gave a lecture on “Advances in Diagnostic Technology”. The lecture covered the causes of genetic disorders and techniques used in diagnosis of the same. The second speaker for the session was Dr. Aldon Fernandes, Vice President, R&D Biologicals – Equine, Bharat Serum & Vaccines Ltd. His lecture was on “Heterologous Polyclonal Antibody Therapy”. He discussed about Equine biologicals manufacturing and controls, nosocomial infections and role of equine biologicals.
The Valedictory session was held at 4 p.m. where, Dr. C. K. Prashant, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, PCACS gave the concluding remarks emphasizing on the potential of Medical Biotechnology in improving quality of human health. The seminar ended with distribution of certificates by Dr. Aldon Fernandes, followed by Vote of thanks by the Convener, Prof. Gopakumar Pillai.
The students and faculty members were very interactive throughout the lectures. The seminar received a good feedback form the audience. Overall the seminar was very encouraging and was well appreciated by the guests, students and faculty members.
Department of B.Com. Accounting and Finance organized Career Guidance Seminar in association with Higher Education Forum (HEF) on 28th February 2018, Wednesday for T.Y.B.Com. Accounting and Finance students. Higher Education Forum (HEF) is the largest on-line community of higher education professionals in India. Launched about 9 years ago, it has a membership of more than 3,500. HEF is involved in a number of capacity building activities in the space of higher education among all stakeholders including faculty and students. One of the important activities conducted on a regular basis by HEF is the career guidance seminar for graduate / post-graduate students. Dr. A. K. Sen Gupta, Founder and Convener, Higher Education Forum (HEF) was the chief guest on this occasion.
Sir guided students on various topics including higher education, corporate jobs, skills needed, attitude sought for, courses available in foreign universities after graduation, among others. The discussion was continued by expert speakers Prof. V. Ramachandran and Dr. Vandana Mahajani, members of Higher Education Forum. They guided students on various career opportunities available in commerce, business and industry. The seminar was attended by 75 students of T.Y.B.Com. Accounting & Finance and concluded with answering of queries raised by students.
The Department of I.T. & C.S. in association with Pillai College of Arts, Commerce & Science, New Panvel organized a One Day Workshop on “Art of Writing and Publishing An Effective Research Paper” on 20th January, 2018.
Dr. Kinnarry Thakkar, Chairperson, B.O.S. of B.M.S., University of Mumbai was the resource person for the event.
The workshop was very informative. It gave insight on how to write effective research paper. The participants got the key points to write research papers. More than 70 participants were benefitted.
Internal Quality Assurance Cell organised Two Day National Level NAAC Sponsored Seminar on the theme “Using ICT for Quality in Teaching-Learning and Evaluation Processes” on 15th & 16th December, 2017 wherein 95 faculty beneficiaries.
The Inaugural Ceremony was on 15th December, 2017. (Timings: 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m.) The Convenors of the event were: Dr. Aarti Sukheja (Coordinator, IQAC) & Asst. Prof. Bhavana Parab (Co-Coordinator, IQAC).
Honourable Dr. Satya Pal Singh, Minister of State for HRD, appreciated the initiative taken by the college with respect to triggering awareness on ICT education.

The said seminar was held under the intellectual leadership of distinguished Academic and Industry Experts and eminent speakers from the field of ICT. There is a need for heightened level of clarity and focus in integrating ICT in education and in this regard the seminar serves the need of the hour. The Seminar hopes to stimulate the academic environment by providing a platform for discussion on ICT initiatives by accredited institutions and thereby integrating ICT in teaching- learning & evaluation processes across educational systems.
