As part of worldwide observation of International Yoga Day, National Service Scheme of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce & Science, New Panvel in association with Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Panvel observed this day on 21st June, 2019 in the campus. The session was carried under the guidance of a well trained yoga instructor Mr. Ram Palat Yadav, Retd. Lieutenant (Indian Navy) from Jila Prabhari – Patanjali Yog Samiti from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The students were made aware about the importance and benefits of yoga. Around 100 volunteers gathered with the eagerness to gain an insight about how indispensable yoga is. The students were also enlightenment about Yoga Asanas. A number of poses were explained in detail and demonstrated by the speaker and volunteers were made to participate. The focus was on how we can improve our lifestyle by incorporating yoga in our day to day activities and acquire physical, mental and spiritual coordination. It was a healthy session and everybody celebrated the day with much fervor.
Department of B.M.S. celebrated the department’s 2nd 50 Golden Saturday on 15th June, 2019. Jeffin Ani Johns CEO and co founder of BrandKeeda and group CEO for JTE Group of Companies was invited for a session on “Being Entrepreneur”.
Jeffin Ani John holds double masters from ICFAI and he is Certified lean 6 sigma green belt professional, Government of india certified in digital marketing, entrepreneurship mentoring, worked with over 120 clients from India, US and middle eastern countries, Holds multiple awards and recognitions such as top 3 in young leaders of tomorrow by economic times for consecutive 2 years, iMSME top young leaders in India, India 5000 awards and top 30 under 30 young edupreneurs in India by Brainfeed Magazine, Nominated last year to represent India in European startup festival conducted in Turin, Italy, Alumni of 2012 B.M.S. batch of PCACS.
The National Service Scheme of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce & Science celebrated the second Golden Saturday with Alumni on 20th April, 2019 on account of 50 years of Mahatma Education Society in 2020.
Mr. Charanjeet Singh, President, Raigad District & National Vice President of Justice and Fundamental Rights was the Guest Alumni for the celebration of this Golden Saturday. It was a wonderful session and N.S.S. volunteers took part enthusiastically and everybody celebrated the day with much fervor.
Department of B.Com. conducted a ‘Youth Forum’ in accordance to celebration of “50 Golden Saturdays” with Alumni marking the Golden Jubilee of MES on 30th March, 2019 wherein students were guided on how to discover their Inner Drive by Ms. Nikhitha Nair and Mr. Rejith Nair of 2018 Batch. Post the address, the students presented their views on ideas that influence the Youth, viz.

On 24th March 2019, students from Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science volunteered the household survey. It was conducted in the villages of Maharashtra on behalf of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan.
The mission of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is to enable participating higher educational institutions to work with the people of rural India in identifying development challenges and evolving appropriate solutions for accelerating sustainable growth.
Under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, a flagship program of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Government of India, UGC has selected our institution to fulfill the objectives. As per the guidelines the NSS unit of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce & Science has adopted five villages namely Nevali, Pale Bk, Valap, Nitalas and Vavanje under this program for Baseline Household survey as well as village survey. 30 student volunteers headed by a Professor have completed the survey as per the prescribed format given by the Government. In total 163 student volunteers collected data from these villages with the help of Gram Panchayat and the data has been uploaded online on the reporting portal of UBA website. Currently the unit is waiting for the government funds to execute the plans and to meet the requirements of the villages
On account of completion of 50 years of Mahatma Education Society’s & 20 Years of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce & Science has initiated 50 Golden Saturdays Celebration as a part of which Department of B.Com. Financial Markets has organised Alumni Meet on 23rd March, 2019.
On this occasion B.Com. in Financial Markets alumni Mr. Akshay Kumbhar (Batch 2012-13), who works in HDFC Bank, Mumbai as a Deputy Manager of Custodian Services and Mr. Ankit Pingale (Batch 2013-14), who works in Morning Star Ltd. Company in Vashi as a Research Analyst, were invited to orient F.Y. & S.Y.B.Com. Financial Markets students on Scope & Opportunities available in the stream of Financial Markets and were also the judge for Quiz competition organized by the department.
Biotechnology Association in association with Department of Biotechnology organized a poster making competition – “Vistas in Biotechnology” on 9th March 2019, Saturday. Students from F.Y., S.Y. and M.Sc. – I participated in the event. The event began by 10 am and the judge for the event was Mr. Abhilash Das, Field Application Specialist – Biopharma, Spinco Biotech Pvt. Ltd. He is an alumnus of the department of Biotechnology. Posters on diverse topics were put up and students were given 7 minutes to explain their topic and three minutes to answer questions put forth by the judge.

The posters were judged and the results were announced soon. The first prize was awarded to Tanushri Rakshaskar and Rakshita Shetty from M. Sc. Part 1 for their poster “Anti-cancerous properties of carrot & beetroot” and the second prize was awarded to the Akhila Nair and Aditi Raju from F.Y. B.Sc. for their poster “Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome”. Both the winners were given a cash prize and a certificate. Mr. Abhilash gave personal comments and suggestions to all the participants to improve their poster making skills. The event was a great success and students got an opportunity to learn many new things.
Students’ Council of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science celebrated Rose Day 2019 with Alumni on account of 50 Golden Saturdays with Alumni.
On 8th March 2019, Alumnus Ms. Prachi, Mr. Sahil, Mr. Ashish and Mr. Nabil were invited to celebrate the event. The preparation of the event was started a week before with a desk set up in the canteen area to register the dedications. The dedications were announced on Rose Day, where the dedicated person would be given a rose with chocolate.
As part of the main event, Rose Day had various performances of dance, singing and poem recitation. The major highlight of the event was the fashion show presented by UCONIC team. It felicitated student council students who have dedicatedly worked for three years in the respective fields.
The Rose Day event was carried out smoothly with the help of the present Students’ Council Members. Being the last event of the year, students celebrated it in full excitement. The event concluded with DJ.
Department of IT/CS celebrated the Golden Saturday with Alumni on account of completion of 50 years of M.E.S in 2020. The event was held on Saturday, 2nd March, 2019.
The event was organized by Computer Association Committee of IT/CS department consisting of students and faculty members.
The event started by the lamp lighting ceremony done by our alumni and began with the award ceremony felicitating the alumni and students of IT/CS department who brought laurels to the college by participating and winning in various sport events, competitions organized by the University Of Mumbai.
Annual award was distributed along with a session on “Inspirational Stories by Alumni” for which Mr. Amandeep Singh, Mr. Nitish Patil, Mr. Ravindra Vilas Malpute, Mr. Shashank Pathare, Mr. Sukhdeep Singh, Mr. Tanay Vilas Patil, Mr. Varun Nair, Mr. Vikith Jain, Mr. Ankit Goregaonkar, Mr. Prashant Shivhare, Mr. Bishal Bose, Ms. Basanti Pun and Mr. Sanket Chinatamani Gangare, alumni of I.T & C.S were invited as guest. There was an award ceremony as well for the students of all departments, who excelled in extra-curricular activities such as sports, inter-college project competitions, gaming events, technical events, etc. These winners were felicitated with certificates by the alumni.
The function also witnessed some amazing dance performance, singers singing in their melodious voice which was appreciated by everyone present for the event.
The event concluded by the most prestigious award of the department that is the ‘Student of the Year’ award.
