PCACS hosted residents from Ramkrishna Niketan and Rajeev Rajan Adhargrah, Shantivan, Nere (both shelters for elderly) on 2nd February, 2013 as part of the Community Service Day. Thirty Five elderly men and women, who have been staying there away from their children and family due to various issues, visited our campus on this day and spend quality time interacting with our teachers and student volunteers. Post Lunch and the multi-entertainment programme arranged by students of different institutes under MES, we assembled in Ground floor, Architecture studio and spend the rest of the afternoon, chatting, singing and dancing. The spirit and enthusiasm of the elderly was extraordinary, and made each of the teaching staff members to come forward and put forth some entertainment programme. Teachers of all the departments enjoyed the antakshari rounds. CSD, definitely is an idea well received by the staff and students and is well on the way towards forging a community partnership that changes lives. Many of our teachers were moved, with the interactions with the elderly and the student volunteers had a more matured outlook towards their parents and grand-parents.
