The Placement Cell of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science organized a Seminar Session named ‘JAVA Training Program’ for the third year students of B.Sc. I.T. and B.Sc. C.S. It was held on 14th July 2018, Saturday in the 7th-floor auditorium. The topic covered in the seminar was ‘JAVA Programming’. The resource person was Mr. Vishal Dawane, who is a trainer at L&T Infotech.

The third-year students were enlightened on the topic JAVA Programming and its uses and benefits. It was an interactive session which will help the students who wish to achieve a career in programming and the IT sector.
Dr. Kumudini Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics & Statistics, presented paper “Incongruence and differentials in reporting of child death by the coolest in India”, “Dynamics of Inter caste and Inter religious marriages in India” in Asian Population Association Conference at Shanghai during 11th to 14th July, 2018.
On 10th July 2018, a seminar was conducted on the topic, ‘Orientation for Avishkar Research Convention 2018-19’ in the Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science.
Every year, Mumbai University hosts ‘Avishkar Research Convention’ to inculcate the students with a sense of research culture and scientific learning. The seminar was conducted in the conclave by the resource person Dr. Seema Somani. The seminar was for the participants of the Avishkar Competition. Dr. Somani briefed the students on various topics like the introduction of Avishkar, the categories under which the students can work on with their projects, the benefits of Avishkar and the rules of the same.
Avishkar is all about an invention for the betterment of the society. The resource person shared the past experience of the projects that took place and its importance. It was an interactive session where students asked queries about the topics they have chosen and the resource person help them with it.
A Seminar on “How to Improve the Quality of Life” was conducted on 7th July, 2018 by Mr. Ashok Sathaye along with coordinator Mamta Shetty. He is a member of Divine path that works towards positive living. Subjects like how to live effectively, how to improve the power of concentration & memory, how to plan ones goals and achieve them.
The Value Based Education Cell of PCACS on 7th July, 2018 conducted a Seminar on “How to improve the quality of life”. The Seminar was held in the auditorium for the students of various streams. This seminar was conducted by Mr. Ashok Sathaye along with Co-ordinator Mamta Shetty. It was attended by over 300 students including faculty members.
Mr. Ashok Sathaye is a member of ‘Divine Path’ which works towards positive living. The seminar was conducted in two sessions for the students. It acknowledged a lot of important topics through discussions and activities. Some of the topics were “How to live effectively”, “How to improve the power of concentration and memory”, “How to plan one’s goals and achieve them” and “How to be successful”.
The interactive session was highly informative and eye-opening for the students irrespective of their streams and fields.

On 4th July 2018, the Placement Cell hosted a Seminar Session named, ‘Barclay’s – Brandkeeda Placement Training Program’. It was conducted in the auditorium for Third Year students of the following departments; B.Sc.I.T., B.Sc.C.S., B.Sc. Biotechnology, B.Com., B.M.S., B.M.M. and B.Com.A&F.
The resource speakers were Mr. Jeffin Ani John, the CEO of Brandkeeda and Ms. Aparna Mallick, a Trainer at Barclay’s. The objective of the event was to orient the T.Y. students about the placement training and guidance. The topics covered in this event were soft skills, grooming session and communication skills. The event was very beneficial to prepare students to step in the corporate world and soar high in their respective fields.
