A group of 45 students of F.Y., S.Y., T.Y.B.Com. with Dr. Rinkoo Shantnu and Dr. Aarti Sukheja visited ‘Parle G’ Factory at Khopoli on 6th October, 2017. The visit acquainted the students with the production and marketing process of preparing biscuits and other items of the said factory. Brief demonstration of different processes was given such as mixing all the ingredients, adding glucose, flavour and packing them into wrappers and storing in cartons. It was an informative and enjoyable visit.
A mega medical Health Check Up Camp was conducted on Thursday 5th October, 2017, N.S.S. unit of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce & Science, New Panvel (Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus) in association with Lions Club of Navi Mumbai Champions and Teams from Fortis Hospital, Vashi, Nairs Superspeciality Eye Hospital, Panvel and Unicare Health Care, Mumbai accompanied by a team of over 30 medical personals offered services such as Blood Pressure, Diabetes, ECG, Diabetes, Eye Check up, Dental Check Up, Doctors Consultation, Ayurvedic consultation etc. Over 250 Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff of the college were benefited by the Free Medical Camp. The Camp was graced by various dignitaries from Lions Clubs International, District 3231 A2 mainly Lion Shri K. J. Paul, 1st Vice District Governor, Lion Shri Maneshwar Nayak, 2nd Vice District Governor, Lion Pratap Mudaliar, Lion Anuradha Karpe, Lion Usha Talwar among others. Prof. Shabab Rizvi, N.S.S. Programme Officer, expressed satisfaction that the staff members were able to avail the medical check up. Noted Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Pramod Bhor, gave a talk to the staff members on the way to keep their body fit and healthy. The Camp was well appreciated by the Staff Members and requested the Administration of more such camps on a periodical basis.
It is a double warmly for Pillai Volleyball as their Men won the Gold and the counterpart women’s Volleyball team led by Ankita Khatayat (T.Y.B.Com.) won Silver Medal at Mumbai University Inter Collegiate Women Volleyball Championship 2017-18 held at Podar College, Matunga from 3rd to 6th October, 2017. This is also came as a great achievement as team who ranked 13th managed to reach 2nd slot out of 62 college teams. Prerana Sharma, Akansha Pandey, Sweta Gowda and Sneha played good game of volleyball throughout the tournament.
First Prize for Poster Competition and Second Prize for Street Play secured at District Level Competition
The Department of Lifelong Learning & Extension (DLLE) unit of Mahatma Education Society’s, Pillai College of Arts Commerce & Science, New Panvel held a skit based on the subject of ‘Women Status in India’ on 28th September, 2017. PCACS students secured the second prize for the Street play which was organized as a part of the Socio-Cultural District Level Competition 2017-18 at Anjuman Islam Janjira, Degree College of Science, Murud Janjira on 1st October, 2017. The skit dealt with the issue of atrocities that are faced by a Woman throughout the various stages of her life. The students acted naturally and meticulously with raw talent. Performance was staged confidently with appropriate props. Collaborative efforts and hard work of all the students involved was evident and duly recognized. The cast consisted of a total of 12 students and additional 7 students were involved as a part of the crew.
Ms. Apurva Shirke bagged the first prize in Poster making competition which was held by Anjuman Islam College, Murud on 1st October, 2017.
