An International Level Webinar on “Insights on Covid-19: Immunopathology and Diagnosis” was organized by the Department of Biotechnology on Thursday 28th May, 2020 on Zoom online platform in association with BIAP. The Webinar began with the inauguration speech by Mrs. Suparna Deepak, program co-ordinator. She said that the Corona pandemic has unveiled the true importance of the Biotechnologists and now is the time for all Biotechnologists to rise and shine, live up to the expectations of common people, and help in making the world a better place to live again together.
The webinar was an attempt to give a snapshot of what has been achieved in such a short time and to discuss the two strategies to combat Covid 19 pandemic including developing diagnostic test and tools and defining the immunopathological changes in patients with COVID-19 which could provide potential targets for drug discovery and is important for clinical management
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Gajanan Wader, Principal of Pillai college of Arts, Commerce & Science. He welcomed the two speakers for the webinar and gave an introduction about the college and the department.
The first speaker was Dr. Usha Padmanabhan, Senior scientist and HOD Biochemistry, Haffkine Institute of Training, Research and Testing, Parel. She spoke about the symptoms and transmission of Covid 19. She gave an overview of different types of diagnostic tests carried out for COVID 19 and their exact procedures. She shared her first-hand experiences with us regarding the difficulties faced by the healthcare workers.
Dr. Ankit Saxena, Scientist, NHLBI, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, US was the second speaker for the webinar. He gave the overview how our immune system responds towards the coronavirus. He spoke about the importance of herd immunity and ways to achieve it.
Mrs. Deepika Sharma, Vice-Principal, Pillai college of Arts, Commerce & Science to proposed the vote of thanks. She was immensely satisfied by both the lectures as it gave a scientific view of the disease and the strategies imposed by the Government to combat it. She concluded the webinar by thanking the speakers, management, audience and the organizers.
The webinar received excellent feedback from the attendees from various colleges from various states in India and also from abroad. There were 204 participants including students and academicians. At the end, E-certificates were provided to all the participants
Department of Business Management in association with PH.D Research Centre & Board of Industry- Academia Partnerships organised seven days National Webinar Workshop on Research Methodology from 26th May, 2020 to 1st June, 2020
The workshop benefited 374 participants from across India. The workshop covered various areas of techniques of research from identifying research problems to writing a research report. It was a complete package for research scholars and other participants who got hands on training through the workshop.
The entire workshop was spread across 7 days. Each day 3 sessions were scheduled for smooth management of the workshop. Each day the session started with the National Anthem and the host for the day gave a brief introduction of the resource person for the day. The details of the each day session are as follows:
Day 1: Tuesday 26th May, 2020 : On the first day of workshop, Program coordinator Mrs. Nithya Varghese was the Host of the session. She welcomed all participants and Resource person for the workshop. Vice Principal Prof, Deepika Sharma of Pillai college of Arts, Commerce and Science (Autonomous) briefed the participants about the Institution. Principal Dr. CA. Gajanan P Wader of Pillai college of Arts, Commerce and Science (Autonomous) briefed the participants about the seven days National Webinar Workshop on Research Methodology. The Session was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Parvathi Venkatesh, Principal at Don Bosco College. Prof Parvathi addressed on the topics – Introduction to Research, Format of research, and Ethics in research. The workshop was continued by Dr. Keyur Nayak, Director, Laxmi Institute of Management Vapi Gujarat. Reviewer at London Journal Press. He took 3 session and covered the topics as follows: Session I: 12.00 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. Basics of Research, Selection of literature review, Identifying research gap.; Session II: 2.30 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. Framing objectives of research, format to write research content.; Session III: 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Research Paper and Case study writing, Selection of Research journal for publication.
Day 2: Wednesday 27th May, 2020 : On the second day of workshop, Assistant Professor Nithya Varghese was the Host of the session. There were two resource person for the day. Dr. Raju N, Professor (Retired) Department of Statistics, University of Calicut, he took Session I: 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. – A brief introduction to statistical analysis of data. Introduction to SPSS. Different types of data. Data entry. Data manipulation. ; Session II: 12.00 to 01.30 p.m. Descriptive statistics. Measures of central tendency, dispersion, skewness and kurtosis. Graphs and Diagrams Examples. For Session III: 2.30 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. – Demystifying research, Dr. Rajesh Patil, VISIT, Wadala, was the resource person.
Day 3: Thursday 28th May, 2020 : On the Third day of workshop, Assistant Professor Shardul Buva was the Host of the session. Dr. Chirag Malik Associate Professor (Business Analytics and Research) BML Munjal University Gurgaon, Haryana, India was the resource person for the day. He took 3 sessions on the day. The details are as follows: Session I: 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Sampling Techniques and Reliability of a scale.; Session II: 12.00 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. Testing of Hypothesis-I – Non Parametric; Session III: 2.30 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. Testing of Hypothesis- II – Non Parametric.
Day 4: Friday 29th May, 2020 : On the fourth day of workshop, Assistant Professor Shardul Buva was the Host of the session. There were two resource person for the day. Day 5: Saturday 30th May, 2020 : On the fifth day of workshop, Assistant Professor Shabab Rizvi was the Host of the session. Day 6: Sunday 31st May 2020:- On the sixth day of workshop, Assistant Professor Shabab Rizvi was the Host of the session. Dr. Dinesh Gabhane, Mumbai Maharashtra. was the resource person for the day . The details of the session are as follows: Session I: 10.00 am to 11.30am Testing of Hypothesis: Parametric Multiple response analysis, T Test, ANOVA; Session II: 12.00 to 1.30 p.m. Factor Analysis.; Session III: 2.30 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. Trend Analysis, Discernment analysis, Sentimental Analysis.
Day 7 : Monday 1st June, 2020 : On the seventh day of workshop, Assistant Professor Ruchika Bassi was the Host of the session. Dr. Rahul Pratap Singh Kaurav Coordinator, Foreign University Relations Coordinator, Students Training by External Agencies Coordinator, Internal Assessment (MAM & BTM) Gwalior, M.P. was the resource person for the day. The details of the session are as follows: Session I: 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Identifying significant database. ; Session II: 12.00 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. Bibliometric Analysis I; Session III: 2.30 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. Bibliometric Analysis II.
Participants who had opted for coursework an Examination on research methodology was scheduled on the last day from 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.
The entire session was well managed by the Host, technical team of Board of Industry- Academia Partnerships and faculty admins created for the session. Regular polls were conducted in all the session for all the seven days. The resource person addressed Doubts raised by participants, the email id of the resource person were shared with the participants so that they can directly mail their doubts to the resource person.
The seven day National Webinar Workshop on Research Methodology concluded with a vote of thanks by Assistant Professor Ruchika Bassi.
National Level Webinar on “IPR, Copyright and Plagiarism” was organized by Learning Resource Centre in association with Library Advisory Committee on 27th April, 2020 using ZOOM Platform.
The webinar aimed to aimed to create awareness about the intellectual property rights and consequences of Academic Misconduct and Plagiarism among the participants. In addition to it, the webinar highlighted on how to manage references and bibliographies while conducting research activity. About 95 members participated in the webinar.
Dr. Sanjay B. Munavalli, Organizing Secretary of the event while introducing the webinar said that IPR, Copyright and Plagiarism are important areas of discussion in this COVID-19 pandemic situation and all universities, colleges must need to be addressed. If the higher education institutions does not take steps to address the gravity of this situation it risks damaging its reputation. It is crucial for a higher education institution to establish a culture in which academic integrity is at the forefront of its mission.
The session was conducted by Shri. Prahlad Jadhav, Senior Manager at Khiatan & Co. Mumbai and presented in detail about the intellectual property rights copyright, trademark, patent and highlighted that academic dishonesty and fair use of information for education purpose. He also shared his views on ‘Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism’ and highlighted the University Grants Commission (UGC) (Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Education Regulations, 2018).
During Valedictory Session, report of the webinar was presented by Organizing Secretary, Dr. Sanjay B. Munavalli which was followed by online feedback from the participants and distribution of e-certificates to the participants
On 22nd April, 2020, PCACS Placement Cell organized a Webinar in collaboration with Ed-tech Master class on Students Engagement during online classes was successfully conducted with participation of different stake holders.
The webinar addressed student centric effective teaching-learning pedagogy among the participants. This course was aimed for teachers who are teaching various disciplines of science and engineering subjects in colleges or Universities. There were 125 participants registered for this program from different Universities and Colleges of Mumbai and 75 number of participants successfully completed the program.

College Level Workshop on “Use of Google Certify’em Add-on: An Instrument to Generate Automatic E-certificate” for faculty members of PCACS was organized by Library Advisory Committee on 3rd March, 2020.
The main objectives of the workshop are effective usage of Google Certify’em Add-on to generate e-certificates.
- Certify’em lets certifier leverage the power of Google Forms to create online certifications and email custom certificates to exam-takers, survey and feedback participants.
- The certifier can predefine their own eligibility criteria’s for participants to issue e-certificate.
- Google certify’em may help to motivate learners or participants to complete the assigned tasks.
- Google certify’em helps to collect immediate feedbacks from the participants or learners while conducting seminars and conferences.
- Google certify’em helps to reduce the time spent for distribution of certificates, reduces usage of paper and improves the image of participants as well as certifier.
Dr. Sanjay B. Munavalli, Librarian, PCACS conducted the session and highlighted the features of Google certify’em and demonstrated design and development of e-certificates.The various advantages of using e-certificates and linking to Google forms.About 60 faculty members participated.The participants assigned to design and develop their own certificates using Google certify’em Add-on followed by feedback collected from the participants and vote of thanks proposed by Library Advisory Committee In-Charge Dr. Seema Somani, Associate Professor, Dept. of Commerce.
The Management Association in collaboration with the Incubation Cell organized a One Day Seminar on the topic “Intellectual Property Rights”. Dr. Vijay Kumar Shivpuje, a reputed member of the National IPR Council, conducted the session.
Dr Vijay started the seminar by talking about what IPR actually is and explained it’s importance in the real economy. The seminar was very interactive and informative. Students were highly intrigued with the way Dr Vijay taught the various aspects of the rights to protect their brain child. He also spoke about how startups could benefit the most out of IPR and how it could boost a business.
The different types of Intellectual Property Rights like Copyrights, Geographic Indications, Industrial Design, etc. He used real life examples to make the understanding of the subject at hand better. He also cited his own experiences to help explain the working of IPRs too. The basics of filing IPR, why it is essential, etc were also discussed.
Another topic that was highlighted was Patents and Patent Rights. The importance of patents was discussed along with the procedure of filing, its requirements and benefits.
The seminar concluded with an interactive Questions session where all the students asked their questions and doubts regarding IPR. Dr Vijay made sure everyone went back with a proper knowledge of IPR.
PCACS B.M.S. department organized an International Seminar on “Innovation in Management and Social Science” on 24th February, 2020 at 11 a.m., in association with CISI. The idea behind this seminar was to guide the participants to have innovative ideas and techniques developed.
Prof. Deepika Sharma Vice Principal of PCACS delivered an introductory speech to welcoming the Guest of Honour and key speaker of International Seminar Prof. Subba Rao. The introduction of the seminar was given by Principal, Dr. C.A. Gajanan P. Wader, after which the guest lighted the lamp. Dr. Aarti Sukheja IQAC coordinator gave a brief information about the quality standards required to generate innovative practices in colleges.
The Guest of Honour was Prof. Subba Rao is an Ex-Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice–Chancellor, Professor and Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management in India and other countries for more than 40 years. He published 103 Research papers in National and International Journals, 25 Research and textbooks in Commerce and HR Management.
Prof. Subba Rao enlightened the participants on how innovation is different from invention and various ideas to adopt innovative practices. “Change before the change changes you” was the tagline with which Prof. Subba Rao concluded the seminar by saying, “There is a need of followers to recognize the significance of leaders”. Also that we need to keep ourselves informative about the changes and development taking place around us. The seminar was highly informative and interactive. The Seminar ended on a happy note with all the participants having a clear idea about Innovative ideas, Social Science needed in a Management sector and also how to generate business ideas to start a Start–up of their own.
Department of B.Com. Accounting & Finance organized One Day National Seminar on “Financial Awareness of GST and Telecom Industry” in association with Consumer Guidance Society of India (CGSI) on 24th January 2020, Friday for Third Year B.Com. Accounting & Finance. Seminar was started with inauguration ceremony. Dr. Abida Khan, Coordinator – B.Com. Accounting & Finance felicitated guest Mr. Thirthraj Pandey Project Officer CGSI, resource person Mr. K. V. Nanda Kumar Menon and Mr. Dinesh Bhandari. Dr. Kavita Kathare introduced guest Mr. Thirthraj Pandey, Project Officer Consumer Guidance Society of India and resource person Mr. K.V. Nanda Kumar Menon, Retired as Senior Vice President from UTI Mutual Fund from Kerala and Mr. Dinesh Bhandari, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. The seminar was organized in two sessions.

EDP cell had organised a session on “Opportunities and Challenges for Startups in India” on 3rd December, 2019 at 10.00 p.m. in Mini conclave. The seminar was in two session. The first Guest Speaker for the session was Ms. Surabhi Rao, Director and product development Head of her family business Narsipur Chemical Pvt. Ltd. The Second Speaker for the session was Ms. Harshala Chavan, The Founder and CEO of Readnet.
The session was attended by a total 32 Students. The session started with Ms Surabhi Rao introducing herself to the audience. Ms. Surabhi Rao highlighted on the Opportunities waiting for young Entrepreneur. The session was very informative and helpful. Students got an insight in regard to the sector that are blooming and the opportunities that they can explore as an Entrepreneur. Ms. Surabhi Rao also highlighted on the the hurdle she had to face in her business and how did she managed to come out of it
The second session was taken by Ms. Harshal Chavan a very young entrepreneur. She Started her session with her Journey of becoming an entrepreneur. Ms. Harshala Chavan had focused on the challenges faced by her in becoming an entrepreneur. Ms. Chavan also enlightened the students about the hurdle that might come up in the process of becoming an entrepreneur and how should one deal with it.
Both the young generation speakers were very knowledgeable and kind to resolve the doubts raised by the students. The feedback received by the students were very good. Students thoroughly enjoyed both the session.
On 1st October, 2019, Health Check-Up Committee organized a Workshop on “Body Fat Analysis”. It was conducted for the teaching and non-teaching staff of PCACS in the Conclave. Fitness experts Mr. Parasram Bajantri and Mrs. Harshala Bajantri educated the importance of fitness in our everyday life. The session included topics like body fat, metabolism and balanced diet. They had a very interactive approach throughout the session, which was liked the staff of PCACS.
Towards the end of the session, Mr. Parasram and Mrs. Harshala conducted free Body Fat Check-up using the hi-tech machines. Both teaching as well as non-teaching staff actively participated in the check-up.
