The department of Mass Media conducted a Faculty Exchange Program for the students of Second Year of the subject Mass Media Research. A lecture on the topic Mean, Mode and Median taught by Prof. Sindhuja Joshi.
The lecture started by the introduction of the topic, how it is co related with the subject and its practical applications. Then professor explained the students 3 methods to find out the mean of given data. Several questions were practiced to understand the topic in depth. For better understanding of students, she solved all the questions on white board and answered everyone’s doubt. Lastly students were given few questions as home work for more practice.
It was a learning experience for all the students as they got different perspective of the subject.
B.M.S. Department commenced the Golden Saturday’s Celebration on 23rd February, 2019 with a practical session for second year and third year marketing elective students. The session was on ‘How To Manage Client Relation And How To Get Clients?’ It was conducted by Mr. Arjith Wadhva, Founder and Proprietor, AR Graphics. He is alumni of B.M.S. department 2013-14 batch.
In the session Mr. Wadhva discussed about 6 golden rules of client relations:
- Client time is your money
- UNDER Promise and OVER Delivery
- Don’t Burn Bridges With Pettiness
- Set Mutual Goals
- Build Credibility Over Time
- Be Transparent and Human
Students had practical session on ‘How To Sell Your Product?’ and ‘How To Value Your Customer?’ The session ended with a thanking note by Mr. Febin George.
The Department of Bachelor of Mass Media conducted Movie Screening session in the Auditorium on 22nd February, 2019. It was organized for all the students from First year till Third year.
In the movie screening session, the movie ‘The Post’ was shown to the students. The movie was a historical political thriller. The plot revolved around true story of attempts by journalists at The Washington Post to publish the Pentagon Papers, classified documents regarding the 30-year involvement of the United States government in the Vietnam War. The amazing movie gave the B.M.M. students an insight of the journalism world. Such program and efforts by the college help the student to learn through a different medium and experience new education techniques.
All the students enjoyed the streaming. It concluded with the students enjoying the classic but also learning through it.
The Department of Bachelor of Mass Media organized its first Golden Saturday with PCACS alumni and HT Cafe Journalist Gayathri Menon.
On 16th February 2019, the students of TYBMM were bestowed upon with a session related to the job opportunities based on Print Journalism. The session was conducted by PCACS Alumni Gayathri Menon, who shared her journey as an aspiring editor, juggling through various different magazine productions, until she found the perfect job for herself at HT Cafe. She spoke about the decisions she took, and the few regrets she gathered along the way. Her journey greatly inspired the students, who themselves are on the verge of creating their own unique stories.
Consortia – transforming minds, translating idea for the academic year 2018-19 was held on 15th February, 2019. The registration began at 8:30 a.m. for all the events.
Consortia means “Association or Conglomeration” and serving justice to its meaning this fest is organised with the goal of providing a platform for the students to exchange ideas and showcase their hidden talents and skills.
The Chief Guest for the fest was Dr. Neetin S. Desai, Director, Amity Institute of Biotechnology. The fest began at 9:30 a.m. with the inauguration at the auditorium of lighting the lamp. The chief guest was felicitated by Mrs. Meenakshi Johri, In-charge of Biotechnology Association. It was followed by 2 minutes of silence for the martyred soldiers of the Pulwama attack. The chief guest Dr. Neetin S. Desai enlightened the students with a small talk about the importance of Biotechnology. The official inauguration was done with a welcome speech by Mrs. Meenakshi Johri, the in charge of the Biotechnology Association.
The first event of the fest was ZOOM IN which was based on the theme “EMOTIONS”. Participants were of given time duration of 2.5 hours. It was followed by CHAIN REACTION. This event was extremely interesting and was to evaluate the memory power of the participants. The next event was BIOPOEM which was judged by Ms. Rupali Nanekar, Assistant Professor, CKT College and Ms. Suparna Deepak, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology. The stage was set on fire by the winner and the runner up. The event was enjoyed by all. Following it was READ MY LIPS. The event had the maximum participants with two rounds of elimination. Refreshments were provided to all the participants.
The creative events were conducted in the lab and corridor. CHOCOLATE MAKING was conducted in the lab and the judge for the event was Dr. Seema Somani, Associate Professor from Commerce Department, PCACS and Ms. Bhakti Hirani, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology. BIORANGOLI was conducted in the corridor and class as there were many participants. The judge for the event was Ms. Rupali Nanekar and Ms. Ashwathi Gangadharan, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology. Both the event participants were given 1 hour. During this the participants of Zoom In presented the photographs and the event was judged by Mr. Jacob, Cinematographer and Mr. Gopakumar Pillai, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology. Chocolate making was the best event because everyone had chocolates and the participants enjoyed the event.
The fest was brought to an end by a valedictory speech by the president of Biotechnology Association, Ms. Hema Patil. Everyone went home with a smile and lovely memories making the fest ‘Consortia- Transforming minds, translating ideas’ a successful one.

Economics Association organized a ‘Free Eye Check-up for Students & Staff’ in association with ‘Advanced Eye Hospital and Institute’. It was organized on 29th January, 2019 in the Old Canteen area. Total 140 students and 21 staff members were benefited from the eye check-up camp. Highly qualified doctors used best quality equipments to conduct the eye check-up. The camp was volunteered by student members of Economic Association.
On the same day, a ‘Poster Making Competition’ on the theme ‘Eye Donation’ was organized by the members of Economic Association. The motto of conducting it was to create awareness about eye donation. The handmade posters were displayed in the Old Canteen Area of the campus.
Department of Economics conducted a Test on ‘Know Your Economy: Awareness Kindling Test – 2018-19’ in association with ‘Scientific Research Association for Economics & Finance (SRAEF)’ on Monday, 28th January, 2019. Total 160 students participated in the test. The test had Multiple Choice Questions based on the economic situation, it also featured a type of question where a picture relevant to the economic situation was given and students were asked to identify the event or happening. The test also had abbreviations, which students had to answer.
The winners of the test will be awarded prize money and certificates by Scientific Research Association for Economics & Finance (SRAEF). Whereas, other students will be given the certificate of participation by the college.
