Arts and Media Association conducted a social activity on 29th February, 2020. As part of the activity, students were shown a video clip named – “Mera Baba Desh Chalata Hai”. It focused on importance of segregating Biodegradable wet waste and Non-biodegradable Dry Waste in two separate bins. The video highlights the harsh reality of life of a Sanitation Cleaner. It educates the importance of segregating Dry waste and Wet Waste in two separate bins. The video also salutes these unsung heroes of the society.

The big day arrived again on 17th December 2018, Querenciaa, with the theme of T.V. shows. For most of us it felt like coming home again. The sun came up with new hopes and positive vibes with all the events lined up, eager participants, all the props decked up and everyone dressed up in the beloved Querenciaa T-shirt.

The event started with the lighting of a lamp. An auspicious beginning to the fest with prayers and blessings.
The first event was Spotlight, The Personality show. Participants were expected to go through three rounds. The walk introduction, The talent and the questionnaire round. The participants were dressed up as their favourite T.V. show characters and the judge them, we had the very talented Neeraj Yadav and Riya Rathod. The event started with a bang, a cut to cut competition, amazing talents and witty answers. Everyone was fascinated with the event.
Next up was Mic Drop. An open mic event, judged by none other than Ankit Bedi. The Participants were allowed to speak, sing, rap or beatbox their hearts out. This event was the most enjoyable. With heart touching to poetry to laughter that gave you a stomach ache, to awesome beat boxing and crazy rapping. Everyone was having a time of their lives. Ankit Bedi especially had a great time with us at Querenciaa.
The events so far were great hits and were followed by non-staged events. The first one being ‘Shutters Up’. The photography event where students were given a limited time to click images according to the theme given. One could see participants eagerly rushing everywhere to get the pictures. While others were having fun at ‘Heads up’ A dumb charades event with a twist. The day ended with a Painting competition and really happy members a celebratory dance.
18th December 2018, dawned with mixed emotions. Happiness, eagerness, determination and a tinge of sadness for it as second and the last day of Querenicaa.
Hence it was made sure that the day was to be made better than ever.
The day started with a PUBG Competition and a Treasure Hunt. The participants were never happier. While some ran around the college searching for clues and hints and shouting and screaming. The others furiously tapped on their phones to get the ‘Chicken Dinner’. It was definitely a sight.
These events were followed by the writing event called ‘Twist in the Tale’ where the participants had to write a short story of their own which should include the twist that was given on the spot. It was lovely to see the participants write their hearts out on paper. It was creativity so beautifully carved on paper.
The event was followed by an outstanding dance competition ‘Move your Lakk’. The judges for the event were a Guinness Record Holder and an amazing dancer, Aishwarya Pewal and the very loved Ashutosh Pradhan. The event showed much enthusiasm, mind boggling dances and unbelievable move. It was a treat to watch completely.
The last event for the day was Panache and what a show it was. Judged by the beautiful Vaishnavi Kamble, the event showcased so many themes blended with the grace of a ramp walk. The costumes had everyone dropping their jaws and no one could differentiate between the participants and the professionals. The event was sparkling with life and light and hoots and cheers.
And as the event ended, so did Querenciaa. The end of the day witnessed joy and tears, it witnessed new promises and satisfaction of work, it witnessed hugs and fist pumps and with another celebratory dance and the vote of thanks. It was a goodbye to Querenciaa, with a belief that the next year was set to be better.
The Arts and Media Association of Pillai College organised a Social Activity on 21st August, 2018. The students of B.M.M. department distributed books and stationery to the kids of the Orphanage Kamal Arnav Charitable Trust located in New Panvel.

Students of the college exclusively took the efforts of making beautiful handmade books from unused pages for the students. The social activity was a pretty interactive one where the kids sang songs, recited poems, talked to the students, danced to songs and enjoyed and lot. The kids were very playful and comfortable around the students and extremely happy to receive the books and stationery. The kids and the members of the Orphanage were very cooperative. The activity ended with the kids’ smiling faces and promises to come back. It was indeed a memorable day for everyone.
The Arts and Media Association of the Department of Bachelor of Mass Media conducted a Seminar on 16th August, 2018. This Seminar was in association with the Lakme Academy located in Kharghar. The 2 hours long seminar was conducted in the college auditorium.

A team of beauty professionals from the academy guided the students on how to groom themselves in the corporate world. The event was initiated by Ms. Naziya, the Sales Executive of the Lakme Academy. She enlightened the students about Lakme Academy and the courses it provides. A skin expert from the team shared tips for healthy skin, do’s and don’ts of skin care. She explained how one should take care of the skin according to their skin type. Also, she answered the queries asked by the students.
The highlight of the event was the beauty transformation demonstration. Ms. Lovina, a Make up Artist from past 7 years, demonstrated two make-up looks. One for a ‘Corporate Day’ look and another one a ‘Party’ look. The beauty transformation was beguiling. In make-up, covering up flaws or scars is one of foremost technique. She explained to the students about color corrections according to skin tone. On request of one of the student, Ms. Lovina skillfully covered the students’ tattoo. The event winded up by a student of the academy who shared her experience while completing her course.
It was an interactive session which was thoroughly enjoyed by the students. The workshop was very beneficial for the students who are soon going to enter the corporate world.
The Arts and Media Association of the B.M.M. Department organized a Social Activity on 2nd July, 2018. The female students of S.Y. and T.Y. B.M.M. paid a visit to a municipal corporation school in the vicinity of the college named, Gyan Jyoti Savitribai Phule School, New Panvel.

It is a vernacular medium school, so the language that was chosen by the speakers was Marathi for the students’ understanding and comfort. The workshop was on the topic, ‘Menstrual Hygiene’ for the female students in grade six and seven. The speakers guided them on various topics such as puberty, menstrual cycle, personal hygiene, sex education, good and bad touch.
Charts were prepared by the students of T.Y. B.M.M. to illustrate the topics for a better understanding of the students. At the end of the workshop, sanitary pads were distributed to the students. It was an interactive session where the students answered the questions of the speakers.

Department of Mass Media hosted ‘Red Carpet’ event for parents and other staff members on 28th February, 2018 with full zest and fervor in the college auditorium. The short films made by S.Y. B.M.M. students were displayed on the big day and feedbacks were given, the films varied from topics like gender equality, values system, education, solutions to stress and many such issues pertaining to the Indian society.
It was a moment of pride to see the students’ films screening in from of their parents.
Arts and Media Association (A.M.A.) screened two movies for B.M.M. students on 29th and 30th January, 2018 with a single focus to teach how to critically appreciate the movies and understand the intentions of the moviemaker.
Following movies were screened:
- Men, Women & Children (2014) by Jason Reitman
- Brigsby Bear (2017) by Dave McCary
Jason Reitman’s vision was to showcase the ill effects of excessive use of internet and how the lives of these teenagers and their parents get affected.
Whereas Dave’s movie beautifully illustrates that there are times when the world is big and scary that should not make you stop following your passion. Love, Live and Pursue your Passion.

On 27th January, 2018 S.Y. B.M.M. students distributed snacks and spent quality time with the kids at Vinayak Patil Balgram, New Panvel.
Students of F.Y.B.M.M. visited at Nagar Palika School situated in New Panvel as a part of ‘Social Service Activity’ on 24th January, 2018.
Cakes were distributed among the students on the pre-ceremony of Republic Day and activities like singing of patriotic songs and speeches were given to motivate the students.
