The Marathi Vangmaya Mandal of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science conducted a Marathi Debate Competition on Thursday, 30th August, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in L-403 of the PCACS campus.
The NSS unit in association with Lions Club of Millennium conducted Thalassemia awareness program and detection camp in the campus on 29th August, 2018. Blood samples from 107 students were collected and clinical reports with necessary suggestions for further examination of the case will be given to the beneficiaries.
On 27th and 28th August, 2018 L&T Info Tech Campus Drive was conducted in Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science. This event was organised by the Placement Cell of the College.
The 2 day event aimed at providing placement to the students in the L&T Info Tech Company. The event was attended by the students of various colleges including, Pillai’s College – Panvel, Pillai’s Rasayani, SIES College, N. G. Acharya, C. K. T. College and various others.
The event wound up on a happy note with total 48 students being selected, out of which 21 were from Pillai’s itself. The Placement Cell head, Padmaja Ganti had a huge role in this. She and her team made sure that the third year students of B.Sc. I.T. and C.S., got ample amount of practice to crack the L&T interview. The Placement Cell conducted mock interviews and group discussion before hand.

An interactive session on values like kindness, empathy and honesty that included the journey of the guest speaker who is a motivational speaker, wildlife photographer and a teacher was conducted.
The Value Based Education Centre is conducting a Seminar on the topic, ‘Stop Existing, Start Living’ on 28th August, 2018 in the Conclave at 11:00 a.m.
Economics Association conducted a Debate Competition for the B.Com. students on 24th August, 2018 in the college Conclave. The topic for the debate was ‘Plastic: Boon or Bane’. Total 25 students participated in the said competition. The event was judged by Ms. Gurpreet Kaur and Ms. Heena Khanche. The students were well prepared for the purpose and charmed the audience with their performance. All the participants were given one minute to present their respective points, following to which students participated in an open debate challenge where the participants brainstormed on the said theme. It was an interactive session, where every student put across his point. The prize winners were applauded for their performance. The Debate Competition helped the participating students in honing their communication skills and confidence.
The FINANZA Association of the B.Com. Department (Accounts and Finance) of Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science conducted a One Day Inter Collegiate Festival on Friday, 24th August, 2018.

More than 100 Students from different Colleges Participated in the Festival. The Main Purpose of the Festival was to impart Values and Knowledge about Accountancy in more of a Fun way. The Event was inaugurated by Dr. Monali Ray, The Head of the Department (Accountancy) and Dr. Abida Khan, Head of the Department of B.Com. (Accounting and Finance) Under the Guidance of Prof. Sunita Saina and Prof. Chaitanya Athalye.
Many educational games were conducted such as Finacle Hunt, Tally Hoja and Intelligent Investor. Apart from these there were games such a Think and React, JAM (Just a Minute), Food Fight, Tug o' war, Double trouble and relay. It was a very Interactive Session with a lot of fun which made the students realise that a subject like Accountancy can also be studied in a fun way.
The Mathematics and Statistics Association of Pillai’s College conducted a Quantitative Aptitude Test on 20th August, 2018 at 11:30 a.m., for improving the art of dealing with numbers amongst students. Around 150 students participated in this test.
The students were from various streams such as B.Sc.I.T., B.Sc.C.S., B.Com.A/F, B.Sc.Biotech, B.Com.F.M. and B.M.S. The question paper was framed in such a way that it would increase their reasoning ability. The students were enthusiastically answering the questions. 20 students from various streams are selected for the next round – Maths Quiz Pirates.
